stitchdup Posted January 1, 2020 Posted January 1, 2020 I had a slightly more productive year than usual. Mostly volkswagens but there were a couple of american cars too. So I can get the pics with titles to say what they are I will be posting one build at a time. I'll start with the 1963 impala lowrider. For this one I wanted to give it the transformer look so the front end is a flip front but with the hood still opening. I hinged the body so it can tilt from the chassis and I hinged the roof too. The trunk now flips to the rear also. For the paint I really wanted to do something similar to the awesome lowrider paintjobs seen on here but it didn't really work out as i planned so instead it has some subtle ghost stripes
stitchdup Posted January 1, 2020 Author Posted January 1, 2020 Next up was what was intended to be a pro touring build but somehow ended up as a widebody mad max style interceptor with an indy car engine mounted high and proud. Not the most detailed build but it was fun messing about with it
stitchdup Posted January 1, 2020 Author Posted January 1, 2020 Then came the suburu engine karmann ghia sleeper. I lost the badge for the front and side but it seems to work with the weathered paint. I also used fingernail art decals for the seat trim
stitchdup Posted January 1, 2020 Author Posted January 1, 2020 Next up was a massey ferguson tractor. I wanted to build my grandfathers tractor which is a 35 instead of te20, so most of the work on this was the hood which was reshaped to more of a 35 hood. I know the engine isn't accurate for a 35 but it'll do me. It was also my first dio this year. The chevy pick up was an older build
stitchdup Posted January 1, 2020 Author Posted January 1, 2020 Next up is the amt scirocco. Quite an under rated kit in my opinion that really doesn't need much for the body, but the engine bay needs work. This one is mostly stock apart from I stole front suspension from another kit as this only has a bottom and wire. I also added twin carbs
stitchdup Posted January 1, 2020 Author Posted January 1, 2020 Next up is the revell mk1 gti done as a battered clubman hill climber. This has a clearly scale 16v and a mix of wheels. The fronts have some fujimi turbo fans and both use esci mk2 escort front tyres
stitchdup Posted January 1, 2020 Author Posted January 1, 2020 Next is the revell t3 un bus fitted with all the audi r8 v10 running gear. Again its not really that detailed but was a fun what if build. If you're building this kit you'll find the glass doesn't fit well at all with the screen being too wide at the bottom
stitchdup Posted January 1, 2020 Author Posted January 1, 2020 Then came the fujimi mk5 r32. I really wanted to do a good job on this one, so i test fitted before after and during paint only for the back bumper to no longer fit, and to get it together it knocked the rear lights out of place. I have since bought another of this kit so I can build one with a nicer rear end
stitchdup Posted January 1, 2020 Author Posted January 1, 2020 Finally was the mitsuawa mk1 golf cab. I am really disappointed with this kit, it needed many hours of work to make it look like a golf, and the best thing about it is the top cover. All the trim and edges on this were pretty round when i started. I was considering using ronal teddy bear wheels but this kit is so bad it would have been a waste of nice wheels. This will be getting a tarp over the top and used in a dio eventually
Lowlife ! ! Posted January 1, 2020 Posted January 1, 2020 Great stuff Stitch, I love the karmann ghia, not seen this before it looks a right little sleeper !
bbowser Posted January 1, 2020 Posted January 1, 2020 Really interesting things going on here! Very creative work.
