Worked on the van project a little, then decided to clean up 6 pairs of forceps that hadn't been cleaned in ten years at least. Took a lot longer than it should have! lol

Yes, many many layers of paint. I thought about that for a second, but couldn't think of a way to make it work.

I had to make the hour drive to check on family in another town today. Rural highways in central Texas aren't that exciting except for the occasional speeding truck. Anyway, for some reason I remembered a picture of a Ford Courier UHaul I saved on the computer a few years ago. To keep boredom away, I planned a build in my head. I managed to think through what needed to be done and had a plan. When I got home, I scaled it to fit the Datsun truck I built a few months ago, but it should work for any 1/25th mini pickup. It's made from a plastic For Sale sign and some Evergreen #250 Quarter Round. I even managed to keep it square from every angle. You can't see it under the red putty, but the basic box is done. It really didn't need that much putty, but I was in a hurry and slopped it on. If I can stay on task, it could turn into something cool. Now I need to dig out a parts kits, I think there's enough of a Courier in there to do one like this.

I glued the cab of my 34 truck to the frame today, while giving my one kitty special chicken treats.

Tomorrow gonna shoot to get the bed mounted, and then a few pics.

Circumstances have led me to have several projects started but now the conditions are better and the plan is model building day and evening.

Many thanks to NOBLNG for the tutorial how to make window cranks and door handles.

I impressed myself with this tire lettering job. The Eagle csc is particularly small.

Windsor Newton Series 7 brush and white acrylic paint from the Two Thin Coats line of miniature paints. Not cheap, but it's right the first time.

Wet sanded the primer on this Starliner and sprayed the roof in teal..... This build is kinda inspired by a '60 Ford painted by my hero, Mr. Watson.

I started back working on the Hasagawa 73 Toyota GT liftback this week I started on a month ago trying to get it finished up for a local model show next Saturday. I finished the chassis and interior. Also got the grill and tail light panel done.

Im getting everything ready to start putting the Hasagawa Celica GT together. I cleared the body a couple of weeks ago. The clear is Splash 2K.There’s a few spots that need to be polished on the body. I’m hoping to have it finished sometime next week.

Scrubbed the 57 Fairlane I had in Purple Power and then gave it a nice rinse.  Will let it dry 2-3 days, then shoot white primer over it, let it dry and then base color.  Wife changed her mind on color since the purple I had shot it with went yuck.

Hoping to hit the bench tonight for some engine assembly for paint then final assembly.

Summer is slow time for me with models, but I'm finishing a '53 Ford ragtop kit as a mild-custom '54: '57 312/od trans, Carson top, ebony black PPG acrylic, off-white interiour, and an opened trunk full of stolen hub caps, TV's, etc. Old JoHan Olds Fiesta flipper wheel covers, but however-appropriate, probably not fender skirts.  It's a CA late-fifites hood's car, from the 'pink and black days' no less! As a ninth-grader in those days, I recall those cats -- with a dash of fear!  Black Chinos, windbreakers with the collars turned up, and pink shirts!  And the silly Derby or plug-hats; 'Clockwork Orange' didn't originate that little fillip!  Guess the Eastern hoods wore pork-pies?

I forgot to make hinge points for open hood and trunk, so I'm taking a short-cut: rather than tubing and bent aluminum jewelry wire, I'm just doing retrofit tubing pockets and soft solder.  I don't often open-shut hoods and trunks, and the bendable solder will let me have the option of posing them open, and not losing them constantly -- I hope.  A time saver, and easy to align both open and shut, which can be fussy work.  What you think?  Wick

Did some work on the wife's 57 Fairlane.... removed the weird bodyline on the fender tops, have some putty on it now curing.  And got the rear end for it mounted on the frame. Will be getting the front suspension painted and assembled soon as well.

Did some work the 47 Chevy as well.  The 572 is hanging out between the rails here, I am waiting on the primer I want to use for the block and other resin parts then I can paint them and finish assembling and then do the modifying of the rest of the Chevy engine bay. As of now I shouldn't have to set the engine back.. for now.
