Falcon Ranchero Posted September 7 Posted September 7 (edited) Almost done the build of my second 1971 Olds 442. Building a 1:25 scale replica of a hot wheels 1970 Olds 442 that I’ve had since I was way younger. Edited September 7 by Falcon Ranchero 4
meechum68 Posted September 8 Posted September 8 I did quite a bit... lots of stuff prepped for paint, primer and once a couple things dry, assembly. Some of the stuff is for the 57, the 67 and the 47. ... wow .. all ending in 7's and 10 years apart 5

Mattilacken Posted September 9 Posted September 9 (edited) So I have had the Cyberpunk idea in the back of my head for a while thanks to these 2, @Steve H@StokeModels its a mix of parts and I have had great fun so far.. I believe it to be a mix of a formel car, drag racer and streetracer. And many problems we would have today they won’t have, like transmission 😁😉 but Huey, koenigsegg have a transaxle transmission which is stupid quick and manage around 2000hp so why not 10000? And don’t mind the blower it’s turned around 180deg just for mockup. Edited September 9 by Mattilacken 8
Lownslow Posted September 10 Posted September 10 Wasnt planning on chopping this build but the 300 is really dated so i decided to go off scrip and designing some one off taillights 3
meechum68 Posted Friday at 01:46 AM Posted Friday at 01:46 AM Lots of stuff going on.... nothing assembly wise, just more paint work. Well, spray stuff for now. Will soon be done with that and then it's back to assembly. 2
Old Buckaroo Posted Friday at 10:49 PM Posted Friday at 10:49 PM A Vinyl top that makes me happy I did this from reading about others paint mishaps. I sprayed a lacquer based primer , then immediately used Tamiya rattle can semi gloss over it. The paint reaction was subtle and pleases me for a scale vinyl top. 5 1
Bainford Posted Saturday at 01:58 AM Posted Saturday at 01:58 AM Agreed. That's a good looking roof. 1 1
NOBLNG Posted Saturday at 11:54 PM Posted Saturday at 11:54 PM (edited) I vacuumed and dusted the entire basement (almost) and duster all my completed models. I set a cheap filter on top of a box fan and used a makeup brush to dust them. It worked pretty good I think.🙂 Edited Saturday at 11:56 PM by NOBLNG 4
meechum68 Posted Sunday at 12:05 AM Posted Sunday at 12:05 AM Base coat shot on the Skyline. I have to do some spot sanding, and will be cleaning up the paint booth, before shooting second coat. Got some floaties that decided to stick to the car. 2
Quiet Eric Posted Sunday at 04:16 PM Posted Sunday at 04:16 PM (edited) I've also been doing some paint work. Got my '70 GS in basecoat. There is a '70 Stage 1 prototype painted a one-off color they called "fireglow pearl." I tried to replicate that using Petty Day-Glo Red with some pink pearl over that. It just looks orange here, but once it's cleared and in the sun I think it will really pop. That was the last one that needed basecoat before I tried out some 2K clearcoat for the first time. I got my GTO and the Corvair cleared. I'll clear the Buick and my pro street Camaro tomorrow. Edited Sunday at 04:17 PM by Quiet Eric 2
Lownslow Posted Sunday at 06:14 PM Posted Sunday at 06:14 PM Designed a custom skylight, it will have a clear insert but wanted a shape to flex the ability to 2

johnyrotten Posted Sunday at 11:00 PM Posted Sunday at 11:00 PM Finished the under hood detail and made some tips for the exhaust, trying to wrap this one up. Think I need to make a radiator cap, it's bugging me 3

meechum68 Posted Sunday at 11:56 PM Posted Sunday at 11:56 PM (edited) Cleaned the paint booth, and a little mock up of the Skyline. (I will be doing wet sanding to fix the paint issues before the next coat of base color) And if anyone has a thought or 4, on keeping the work area easier to clean up I am all ears. I gotta find an easier way to keep it clean. Edited Sunday at 11:56 PM by meechum68 1

The grail kit on my list; gotta get the ‘59 Seville. Can’t wait to see what you do with it. 2
meechum68 Posted 15 hours ago Posted 15 hours ago Got another coat of white on the Skyline. Will have to maybe do a little touch up, got some primer down on the engine for the Cannonball build. Glued the rear window in the 57 Fairlane, and got the steering column painted. Will let things dry, and then it's some assembly and some small painting.

Harbour freight might have some,I'm sure home depot and the other box stores will. I clean my booth before almost every use, force of habit, but I know what you mean. 1

I shot the 2nd coat on the Skyline, and I flipped the fan on and put some paper towels on the filter and still had good draw and put some below the paint stand and things seemed better. I will get into the habit of cleaning before each use. Great tip btw! 1
