Gramps46
My Studebaker saga continues with this Danbury Mint Golden Hawk. I got it at a very reasonable price since the seller was honest and noted 3 tiny bubbles on the trunk lid. The front wheels are poseable and the trunk, doors, and hood open though the hood does not open far enough to see much of the detailed engine. The gas cap door might open too but I was not going to force it . I examined one in 1961 when a local doctor had one just like this. It was at a time when Studebaker was the distributor in the US for Mercedes Benz and he had to buy a Studebaker to get the Mercedes he wanted. THarrison351
That is a lovely car Gary! I just rediscovered mine. It has so many fine details. Danbury was really getting their act together when they put this one out. The only thing I found disappointing was the trunk emblem is almost invisible because it's the same color as the paint. The Limited Edition white version shows up much better.
Sam I Am
A girl I went to school with, her dad was into both the golden and silver hawks, he had half a dozen really nice ones. Beautiful cars, both luxurious as well as powerful when equipped with that Paxton supercharged 289. Nice collection of Studebakers. My dad had a 51 bullet nose, my cousin has a 46 pickup, and a friend had a 64 wagonaire. Edited June 15, 2020 by Sam I Am

MrObsessive
Sigh.........I sure miss Danbury Mint. I have one of those stored away and it is a very nice model! I couldn't resist getting one as it's one of those cars that stick in my mind, as I can distinctly remember riding in one of those as a kid. I didn't know what it was, but the shape of the car and those fins definitely never left my mind.
