Hi Guy's.  Hope I posted this in the right place.  I'm new to this. Using the Revell "Black Widow " kit I'm wanting to build a similar car to the picture.  Can anyone give me an idea where I can get the type of headers in gthe picture.  Also the straight front axle. Any help/ideas will be appreciated.

Sorry for the huge picture.

The ex-MPC '57 Chevy flipnose, which I believe was recently reissued, has both the straight front axle and fenderwell headers.

Thanks for the info !!

Another possibility for the suspension would be in the Revell '57 Ford gasser model. This has a complete front axle assembly that wouldn't need much to attach too your '57 Chevrolet. As for Headers you might look around in any recent Chevrolet kits with the small block engine. The Revell '69 Nova SS comes to mind. If you're building a big block car the '70's Camaro kits have some nice headers in them. You might also list your needs on the "Wanted Parts"  on the forum.

Yep, should be easy to find:

The pie crust style cheater slicks can be found in the Polar Lights '64 GTO and '65 Dodge Coronet kits.

It's not that hard to build a straight axle and leaf springs from scratch. The process is fairly well illustrated in this thread. And feel free to ask questions if you need any clarification.

Below is an in-progress shot.

I've seen them made with solder, anyone out there know how to or a source to show how?

You'll need some solder.

Rosin core bends easier than solid but you have the possibility of the rosin leaking out.

There are three sizes. .062", .093", and .125".

Your call on size. Here's what i've found.

.063" good for street headers on 1/25th scalw.

.093" good for race cars, Gassers, etc.

.125" all out,funny cars etc.

And a parting caviat, I found the .093 hardest to find, most hardware stores ( Lowes, Homedepot, ACE) don't carry it.

You can find it on line Amazon.

Aluminum tubing for collectors.

Plastistruct strips for the Header flange, easier than cutting from flat stock'

Good Luck.

Switching gears here (Ha, no pun intended).  Using the 57 Pro shop kit that I  kinda botched up the paint on gonna do a Streetable Gasser along the lines of the photo (although the car in the picture is an all out Gasser).  I've constructed the leaf springs for the front suspension and modified the frame to install the new front suspension.  I'll post some pics in a day or so.

Thanks for looking, Mike

Yeah Guido, I did see that red and gold repaint. Actually, that car seems to have been painted differently a few times.  I haven't really settled on an engine yet or intake system.
