I did have a link to  were to order these from at one time(was it a model railway seller?)

Some how I lost the thread that mentioned them.

Can't remember but I do know when looking at the website a year or so ago I had a hard time

figuring out exactly what to order as far as sizes go for typical 1/25th scale stuff.

if you know the link/company and can advise me the sizes you prefer it would be much

appreciated.

Another question, is there anyone who makes hex nuts in the same scale?

?

MasterClub makes a nice selection. You can buy them on eBay. There is an Eastern European source but I don't have the web address handy.

Tichy Train Group makes a limited range of sizes too. Also available on eBay, or direct      https://www.tichytraingroup.com/Shop/tabid/91/c/ho_nbw--rivets/Default.aspx

Far as knowing what size to order...just measure the size of the real bolt head you want to model and divide by 25.

Thanx Bill,

I would bet it was on one of your threads that I saw those.

To be honest,, my brain has a hard time scaling things.

As an ex machinist where dealing with ten thousands ( tenths of thousandths ,oops) of

an inch has ruined my ability to settle on what looks right.

And there is a difference between perfect scale and perceived

scale....Blah Blah Blah?

What sizes do you normally use?

Only asking cause I know you are a car guy.

Hey, I was a bit tired when typing this

Tichy and Grandt Line both make MANY sizes. If you look under 'O' scale, which is 1/48 scale, then you can get an idea what size you need in 1/24-1/25.  A 2" bolt in O scale is a 1" bolt in 1/24. I have a box full of these things

MENG also makes a bunch of nuts and bolts in different sizes.  They call them "Small" and "Large," "Set A & B."  These are molded on a resin sheet.  You use a chisel blade to slice them off the sheet.  That works well, I use these a lot for detailing front suspensions etc.

Each sheet has several different sizes of bolts, from tiny to large, with the size called out in millimeters. You can find them on eBay, or some online vendors.

This is the MENG "Small Nuts & Hex Bolts, Set A."

Guido

Tenths of thousandths is what I meant to type.

Some times tolerances were within .0005" , my vision is not what it used to be

don't know if it's from the years of deburring tiny medical parts with a lupe or

just old age?

I also have a Lupe set for when I'm checking a micro finish... But, it's gotten to the point where I have to use a magnifying glass to read a micrometer... ????

Optivisor solves vision problems. :D  Trust me - I'm addicted to mine.

When Dad passed and I cleaned out his workshop I found a Opti-visor. I didn't realize how much I needed one until I started using his. Dad built models as a kid (balsa) and helped me in the hobby.....and still did after he was gone!!!

The MENG hex bolts were used on the tie rod and front axle of this Revell Porsche Jr. farm tractor. Since they're resin being glued to plastic, you do have to use CA/super-glue. I apply a small "dot" of the glue with a sharp toothpick.

Looks good even through all the mud?? Thanx for the tip?

I have to admit CA is my least favorite adhesive when it comes to bonding tiny parts.

Have had some mishaps ?

Replicas & Miniatures offers two different size acorn nuts cast is resin, the rim bolts are the smaller size.  The axle nut was created with the UMM punch above and the lug nuts are hex rod.

The larger R&M acorn nuts are used for lug nuts here:

Armor35.ru carries the complete line of MasterClub nuts, bolts and rivets. At the present exchange rate, it's $2.04 per pack of 110-200, depending on the size. There aren't any better available.

Splurged and bought this hex punch set and so glad I did.  Makes great bolt head/nut detail.

That is interesting.

question, Is it possible w/that tool to create a proper nut w/hole thru it by drilling first and then punching it out.

Oh man that sounds weird but can't think of better way to ask?

Joe, you have ordered from them? How was your experience if I can ask.

Cheat: buy some Evergreen hexagonal styrene rod in .020 and .030, cut into small pieces, glue in place, file down to realistic thickness for nice bolt heads. The ones made by the punch set above are mostly over-sized for typical 1/25 automotive usage, but still usable in places; the smallest one shows .8mm, which scales up to 3/4" - 7/8" ballpark. Most visible fasteners are in the 1/2" - 9/16" range. Just something to chew on...

Thanx for input Rusty, I do have one size of Plastruct hex rod, have got to order more sizes.

The best way I have found to file/sand down to thickness is to make a shield (a sheat of styrene)

with a hole thru it just big enough for the hex head and place over before sanding. Hope makes sense.
