RDean58 Posted September 3, 2020 Posted September 3, 2020 As a companion piece to both the 69 Chevelle SS396 and 69 Camaro, I decided to build the small block version of Revell's Nova in hugger orange with Testors wet look clear. Thank you for looking, all comments welcomed.
RichCostello Posted September 4, 2020 Posted September 4, 2020 Why do I get the feeling that there's a hugger orange 69 Corvette in our future?

Was there a sale on Hugger Orange? Not complaining, mind you, that really looks nice on the Nova; gives it a more muscular vibe!

bisc63 Posted September 4, 2020 Posted September 4, 2020 Wouldn't be the worst thing to happen to an Impala, with the right wheels and stance...
RDean58 Posted September 4, 2020 Author Posted September 4, 2020 Actually.... If you look in completed builds you will find my Revell 69 427 Corvette ?
Slotto Posted September 4, 2020 Posted September 4, 2020 Looking good. Nice little companions you got there
espo Posted September 4, 2020 Posted September 4, 2020 The Hugger Orange color was originally thought of as a Camaro color. The color became so well received and everyone seemed to want their other model Chevrolets that color it soon became available on the inter car line. That was the "IT" color for GM as even the Pontiac used it on the GTO Judge.

RDean58 Posted September 4, 2020 Author Posted September 4, 2020 Sorry, the only 69 Corvair kit I have is painted Honduras maroon.
ZTony8 Posted September 5, 2020 Posted September 5, 2020 The body in this kit looks too short from rocker panel to belt line. Is it just me?
RDean58 Posted September 5, 2020 Author Posted September 5, 2020 Engine is done except for the decal on the air cleaner and some black wash on the air intakes. I like my engines to have aluminum heads and intakes :-) So consider this Nova a "week 2" car. "Obviously, the owner tossed the hubcaps and trim rings!" I already have one of these Novas with the Rally wheels, I felt I did not need another. Open wheels are from the MPC Corvette kits. Thanks for looking, all comments welcomed.
RDean58 Posted September 8, 2020 Author Posted September 8, 2020 Interior is done, just your basic semi gloss black for seats, door panels and dash and flat black for the carpet area.
Geno Posted September 8, 2020 Posted September 8, 2020 Oh man, this is gonna be sweet. I dig those ol' Nova's.
doorsovdoon Posted September 8, 2020 Posted September 8, 2020 Nice work, stunning colour. Interior looks very neat.
Snake45 Posted September 8, 2020 Posted September 8, 2020 Novas were available in Hugger Orange in 1970, so you could just say it's a '70. Your engine looks more like a '70 LT-1, too. As found in the Yenko Deuces. In fact, you could put Yenko decals on it and pass as a Yenko,
RDean58 Posted September 9, 2020 Author Posted September 9, 2020 When Revell first released this kit comments were that the engine looked more like a crate motor LT-1 than the stock 350 that came in the 69 Novas. Ah well. I looked up paint codes available for 69 Novas and I did see hugger orange listed, now whether or not it was an authentic GM sponsors paint chip list for 69 Nova I don't know.
Deuces ll Posted September 9, 2020 Posted September 9, 2020 I did that search also... And it states that hugger orange was listed for 1969.... But I never seen one...?
speedy5963 Posted September 11, 2020 Posted September 11, 2020 Looking good, I've got a few of these I'm looking forward to building soon!
