Modlbldr Posted September 15, 2020 Posted September 15, 2020 After viewing lghtngyello03's gorgeous blue Raptor, I wanted to start mine but have had to wait to finish (or get close) some other projects. I started by cleaning up and deepening some of the lines on the body and then primed it with Rust-Oleum White primer. In hindsight, I should have used grey because the Tamiya Mica Red was too light. (First pic). So this week I did some trial runs on scraps of plastic and found the combo to give me the shade I wanted. It turns out a light coat of Testors Brilliant Platinum under the Tamiya Mica Red did the trick. I still need another coat of red after some wet sanding. That will happen later this week. Got to go get another can of Mica Red. My plan is for Tamiya Gun metal for the flares and such. Stay tuned. Later-
Sam I Am Posted September 16, 2020 Posted September 16, 2020 Are you building this box stock, or changing up a few things?
Modlbldr Posted September 16, 2020 Author Posted September 16, 2020 5 hours ago, Sam I Am said: Are you building this box stock, or changing up a few things? Thanks guys. Box stock with the exception of a set of Scenes Unlimited 34 inch tires. Got some interior painted today. Tamiya Semi gloss black on the door panels and mirrors and Tamiya Matt black on the seats. I'll let it dry tonight and, depending on the look, I may hit the seats with a coat of flat clear just to tone down the red. I'm liking it. Later-
Modlbldr Posted September 18, 2020 Author Posted September 18, 2020 Got the interior detail painted and completely assembled. Got the body wet sanded and getting a coat of clear on it now. Later-
Sam I Am Posted September 18, 2020 Posted September 18, 2020 I just realized it is curbside. Who made the kit?

kelson Posted September 19, 2020 Posted September 19, 2020 Masking the seats looks like quite the challenge.
kilrathy10 Posted September 20, 2020 Posted September 20, 2020 Looking very good, Man... I like the color you've chosen... That's going to look awesome when you get it done...
Modlbldr Posted September 22, 2020 Author Posted September 22, 2020 Thanks fellas! It's been a fun build. The seats weren't hard to mask. I painted the red first then taped over the lines. The detail was deep enough to make cutting easy. Been making a lot of progress this week. I got the wheels detail painted and assembled on the Scenes Unlimited T22 tires. Got the stickers (not decals) placed on the body and the final coat of clear sprayed. The body is in the dehydrator now. I'm detail painting parts of the chassis and masking and painting the rear bumper. Got the grille painted and blackwashed. Later-
Modlbldr Posted September 25, 2020 Author Posted September 25, 2020 Got most of the body painted. I just have a couple of spots to touch up and need to BMF the brush guard and paint the small lower grille before final polish. Got a bit more detail painting to do on the chassis pan then I can button this up. Later-

They don't seem to get much love. Not sure why that is. They are actually nice looking when they're done. I may buy another one or two just to stash away for the future. Later-
