kilrathy10 Posted September 29, 2020 Author Posted September 29, 2020 (edited) My thread title will forever say "updated 9/21"... No way to alert folks to any updates, so I hope y'all catch this one... This one is an update for 9/28... Got a bit more done over the past couple days... Lots of little things had to be done... Some painting of the deck, cab, and interior items had to be painted... Not really happy with the silver brush painting of the bed, so that will have to be redone... I thought the diamond plate would hide the brush strokes... Boy, was I wrong!!! The engine is all nestled in... (Good Gravy that was an "iffy" fit) Not sure if I got that right AT ALL; and the outriggers have been assembled... Almost time to put the wheels on... ?Still lots more to go, though... Hopefully, I'll be able to get to the boom, this week... Edited September 29, 2020 by kilrathy10
Chariots of Fire Posted September 29, 2020 Posted September 29, 2020 Oh, WOW! Making progress! I like your work!
Mopar - D Posted September 29, 2020 Posted September 29, 2020 Looking great JT! Looking forward to seeing the boom.
Dutzie Posted October 1, 2020 Posted October 1, 2020 Great job! This will look awesome when you finish.
leafsprings Posted October 3, 2020 Posted October 3, 2020 Those outriggers will definately do the job. Great detail work!
GLMFAA1 Posted October 3, 2020 Posted October 3, 2020 Looking good, engine looks right, going to be a big cream orangesicle when you get that boom on it, I like it. greg
kilrathy10 Posted October 5, 2020 Author Posted October 5, 2020 (edited) I got a little more done over the past few days... I repainted the diamond plate on the body, getting rid of the unsightly brush streaks from my first lazy attempt, and I was able to finally get the outriggers assembled and installed....(Those were a serious pain in the neck) Also, as I had feared, the engine was a little too far back, so an adjustment was made, and now the body sits nicely where it should.... I was, also, able to get the base for the boom painted and assembled... I figure it would be easier to attach the base, first before I install the rest of the boom assembly... I put the wheels on, too... That was my favorite part... ? Here's some pics.... Edited October 5, 2020 by kilrathy10
Mopar - D Posted October 5, 2020 Posted October 5, 2020 JT your chrome diamond plate looks 100% better now and will make the black boom really stand out. What did you use for the chrome paint?

DRIPTROIT 71 Posted October 5, 2020 Posted October 5, 2020 Looks awesome! I will have to try that foil paint. I’ve been using Dupli-color chrome, but I think that this might look better. Great work!
Mopar - D Posted October 9, 2020 Posted October 9, 2020 JT I know you have some progress to share with us.
kilrathy10 Posted October 30, 2020 Author Posted October 30, 2020 (edited) Believe it or not, I finally got some progress to post... It's been a pretty busy couple of weeks at work, for me.... I got some cab work done on this thing... I was going to use the light bars from the Trumpeter kit, but they were freakishly wide for this cab; so I made my own... Nothing special... Just a couple pieces of flat .060" plastic glued together and painted red and blue to produce what you see, here... I think they look the part, though.... I'm satisfied... Home made mirrors installed, as well... Still a few more chrome pieces to add before I can mount the cab permanently... Man!!! There are a lot of tiny chrome pieces with this one!! I gotta get to that boom, Man....Anyways, here we go.... Edited October 30, 2020 by kilrathy10

I was looking for some burnt orange to do this one in, but for whatever reason, I haven't been able to find any in Duplicolor, so I just went with what I had... However, the thought had, indeed, crossed my mind... ? Hoping to be a UT Dad, here, pretty soon... My daughter is a Senior in high school, now!! Edited October 30, 2020 by kilrathy10
