Rodent Posted September 20, 2020 Posted September 20, 2020 I am pretty sure that I have asked this question before, but what custom wheels are represented in the original Full-Size MPC Chevy kits?
gman Posted September 20, 2020 Posted September 20, 2020 That is an artist's rendering- could be a Cragar, could be a Hurst...hard to say, as the wheel isn't particularly well-rendered. What is in the box would show better (and if you're lucky, someone here might have one in the box)
Jack L Posted September 20, 2020 Posted September 20, 2020 been looking for years in old car mags and the closest I found where made by SHORE-CALNEVAR called cyclone, not even close to a Cragar
Plowboy Posted September 20, 2020 Posted September 20, 2020 They're Fenton Sharks. Cragar also made a set very similar.

Note the way the soples are convex like Cragar SS wheels? They may be Hawks though, they look closer with the flat or slightly concave spokes.

Jack L Posted September 20, 2020 Posted September 20, 2020 The wheels in the kit do not look like the ones on the box spokes are wider and flatter

They also come in the reissues of the '76 Caprice as the wheels for the trailer. I have a bunch of them. BTW Jack, I looked up the wheels you mention as I've never heard of them before and see they look exactly like the Fenton Hawks. Edited September 20, 2020 by Can-Con added pic

Jack L Posted September 20, 2020 Posted September 20, 2020 I like to ID all my old kit wheels, thanks Steve

doorsovdoon Posted September 20, 2020 Posted September 20, 2020 They look identical to the ones in the MPC 1970 Bonneville custom pick-up. I had a look to see if they are named but all it says is custom wheels.

I have a bunch of these in the spares box and was wondering what they were. I was thinking of using a set on another build, but I am curious what period of time they were offered in 1:1. Now that I know what they may be, I can do some further research.

All the pics I've seen say the ones I posted were sharks and the chrome plated ones were super sharks. But, yea, that would make sense. Looks like they were incorrect.
