NOBLNG Posted November 12, 2020 Posted November 12, 2020 Amazing slicing and dicing going on here! There is something more rewarding about this kind of building that just glueing a kit together isn’t there? What glue did you use for the side panel that adheres to the styrene and the filler...epoxy?

What glue did you use for the side panel that adheres to the styrene and the filler...epoxy? Thanks Greg. It was Tamyis liquid cement with clamps. there was little filler left by the time I glued it.
landman Posted November 13, 2020 Author Posted November 13, 2020 Worked on some little details. The plasitc is so brittle the door panel broke along the trim seam while trying to cut off the window. Glued it back on. Put a tape behind ans I will fill the recesses.
landman Posted November 16, 2020 Author Posted November 16, 2020 It will retain the twin rear mounted spares.
landman Posted November 18, 2020 Author Posted November 18, 2020 Decided to go with the two tone yellow of the swoopy coupe. My light yellow isn't as creamy.
landman Posted November 23, 2020 Author Posted November 23, 2020 (edited) Thanks guys. We have paint. While it isn't the unmitigated disaster I seem to normally get, it will need some serious massaging. However, the effect is close to what I was looking for. Edited November 23, 2020 by landman
landman Posted November 26, 2020 Author Posted November 26, 2020 Starting to come together. I reused the old windshield but might take it off. It is in poor shape.
landman Posted November 26, 2020 Author Posted November 26, 2020 (edited) Thanks Carl, we are on the home stretch. However, I discovered a huge mistake which might be too late to remedy., Edited November 27, 2020 by landman
landman Posted November 27, 2020 Author Posted November 27, 2020 Should have left well enough alone. I had inverted the hood side panels. And of course I damaged them taking them apart to turn them around. This model is so incredibly brittle, it cracks just looking at it. Anyway here goes.
landman Posted December 3, 2020 Author Posted December 3, 2020 Made acowl band with soft wire. Meanwhile, the hood is on its second repaint.
landman Posted December 3, 2020 Author Posted December 3, 2020 And that came to a screeching halt due to a clogged nozzle. I tried seceral others to no avail. The nozzles are in the lacquer thinner. If that doesn't work, I'll have to extract some paint somehow and break out the airbrush.

Big John Posted March 11, 2021 Posted March 11, 2021 (edited) Coming along Very Nicely!Yes, the wheels on this kit pretty awful, I wonder how the shapeways would fit the kit tires. The type 57 you picture is one of my favorite color schemes I even stripped down a Brumm diecast, added fender skirts and repainted it. I think that it could use a little black wash on the bonnet screens like I did with the radiator. Another long lost project is to do the same conversion with the Franklin mint tp.57.
