Hey Guys!

Just saw the reissue 3-in-1 El Camino today. Was going to get it, even though I have the original "Camper" version, since this has stock hood and engine.

The problem: I didn't know what the decal sheet would look like. For some reason, I can't find a pic of it online anywhere. Maybe I suck. If you have a link to a pic, I'd be glad to see it.

Does anyone have this yet, and if so, can you post a pic of the decals for me? If it's got Full Royal Knight, then I'll likely get it, but if not, it'll be a no-go, I think.

Thanks, in advance!

Thank you so much!

I'm glad to see that they gave us proper striping on this one.

Unfortunately, the big hood decal itself is not all that accurate. It should have gold and orange at least in it, no? I also wish it was hollow; there's no guaranteeing you get the same "black" as the decal when doing this one.

Sadly, I think I'll pass...

C'mon Round 2... where's the El Diablo or your Royal Knight MPC kits, with your nice, patented new awesome decals in several colour options! Time to blow this old chestnut out of the water!

I think the MPC is a better kit, too. I do have them both, I should check...

The Mpc kit morphed into the SS by Choo Choo customs, so $$$$$ to retool into e regular one like in the pic.

Anyway for years I sent in photo copies of dealer catalog pics to Monogram in the hope they would retool....

Oh, that's unfortunate that it became the later SS one. Still, one can hope. :) I guess I'll have to keep my eyes open at swap meets, then.

I do have the "Branding Iron" version, and I intend to likely do it full crazy custom, just because sometimes those MPC customs demand to be built thusly.

When I was a kid, my Uncle built the Diablo one. I would still like a chance to do it with nice new decals.

I have the Diablo kit in my stash to build a copy of the GMC Caballero my Dad drove as his work truck for three years. V6/3 on the floor. I grabbed a bench seat interior out of an '82 Elco kit back when they weren't that expensive, so I have all the needed bits!.

To set the record straight, this kit was originally issued as a 1/24th scale 1978 El Camino.  The Black Knight, exclusive to the 1978 model year, was only available in black with a gold decal package.  It was an option package only if you ordered the SS.

The Royal Knight replaced the Black Knight for the 1979 model year.  That decal package was available in several colors, and for several model years.  So this kit has the correct decal package.

Funny, 'cause it's just exactly the Black Knight graphics to ramp my interest in this way up.

Did Monogram ever offer that version?

EDIT:

never mind!  5 seconds on the Google machine got me my answer:

New decals look more accurate compared to a skim of 1:1s...

I googled that for me

Actually, the SS nose piece is separate from the body. Recreating the stock header for the early and later versions along with the bumper would be pretty easy to produce and would give us more choices than the limited edition Choo Choo Customs version.  Replacing the E.C. script would be a bonus!

The rest of the kit is stock as it is.

Just saw this post, it's too bad they dropped the custom and lowrider graphics from the previous release of this kit (although the Royal Knight striping is nice).

or you could buy the MPC '82 El Camino kit, but it's not an easy kit to find

And then it probably comes with bad chrome and a tiremark on the clear shot.
