Mattilacken Posted November 8, 2020 Posted November 8, 2020 (edited) So I got this from Tradera, Swedish eBay real cheap with a missing motor and some parts, no wheels and tires. It’s the Monogram Heavy Chevy Chevelle so it’s a low parts count model to begin with. Plan is to slap it together. Partsbox wheels, tires and some other bits and pieces. gona make it as I saw the Chevelles around here in the late ‘90’s and early ‘00’s. Edited November 8, 2020 by Mattilacken 1
Mattilacken Posted November 8, 2020 Author Posted November 8, 2020 (edited) Got some paint on the body. Got to be quite thick even though I went put on 3 thin quick coats. The can is 15 years old so that might ad in to some strange performance.. Edited November 9, 2020 by Mattilacken
Quiet Eric Posted November 8, 2020 Posted November 8, 2020 One of my favorite kits when I was a kid, I need to get another. Looking good!

Mattilacken Posted January 19, 2021 Author Posted January 19, 2021 I have been doing some trying out on the body. Emptied the last from the tamiya can for the final coat, after the removal of some dust with a fine grit paper. Came out ok but far from great since it spluttered a bit. No clear since my paintbox is damaged at the moment. And then I won’t over with a marker to paint the chrome. Lesson learned. Mask for the chrome work my hand is not steady enough. put the front wheels on and made some modifications to the rear tires, replaced the old style with a set from a 1:25 corvette but they where made for a bigger tire so I used canopy glue and paint to make it look ok. 1
espo Posted January 19, 2021 Posted January 19, 2021 I like the way this has turned out and the wheels look good here. You mentioned a problem when painting the side markers. An alternative to masking the trim try drawing lightly with a #11 blade the outline of the trim. What should happen is when you are painting the chrome trim any runoff would stop at the line you have created. Long ago when all we had was some high metallic silver paint we called chrome this is how you would keep it off the body.
AMT68 Posted January 19, 2021 Posted January 19, 2021 Looks great overall and this kit is also a favorite of mine as I have several. The plastic does seem softer on the older Monogram versions of this kit as opposed to the more recent Revell releases. 1 hour ago, espo said: An alternative to masking the trim try drawing lightly with a #11 blade the outline of the trim. I did miss that the side markers should have been body color! Well BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH happens. 49 minutes ago, AMT68 said: Looks great overall and this kit is also a favorite of mine as I have several. Will buy a second one so I can build it with engine which this fleebay kit did not.
Mattilacken Posted August 3, 2021 Author Posted August 3, 2021 Managed to finish the details and post it under glass ?
Zippi Posted August 3, 2021 Posted August 3, 2021 Sharp looking Chevelle . The wheels and tires give it the right stance. NIcely done.
Mattilacken Posted September 22, 2024 Author Posted September 22, 2024 (edited) So a couple of years later, When a wheel or two, have been knocked off In the display case, this build came back to the Bench. And since it was curbside, I decided it would be nice to have an engine in it. And I decided to have the LT5 in it just because I love the intake And the fact that it has four overhead camshafts It automatically makes the engine Exotic. And Turbos on a LT5 would be nice so that was the plan.. then the chassi would not cut it.. and with the huge tubs from the revell ‘67 Chevelle I had to redo the interior.. bloody snowballs.. out came the cutter to remove the firewall and inner fenders. And the door cards was cut of the original tub to make the interior less deep. The engine was missing parts since it was originally built by a friend 20 years ago and have been in parts for the last 19 or so. So I decided that I will make use of LS parts to make the front of the engine to look cool. Never mind accuracy and close to the 1:1 as possible, this engine shall look like a LT5 version V or some thing ? rear wheels will be weld racing and fronts might be weld racing as well.. but time will tell. Must do something about that intake though.. Edited September 24, 2024 by Mattilacken
