TonyK Posted December 8, 2020 Posted December 8, 2020 97 years old. This guy was amazing and I've enjoyed reading so many stories about him that I'm not even going to try and say anything. Most everyone probably already know the stories anyway. Glad he made it to 97. He deserved it.
Matt Bacon Posted December 8, 2020 Posted December 8, 2020 One to celebrate rather than be sad about... you know the saying “there are old pilots, and bold pilots, but no old, bold pilots.”? Well anyone who flew combat in WW2, pursued a career as a test pilot and lived to 97 is pretty much the definition of an old bold pilot... Blue skies, Gen Yeager! best, M.
slusher Posted December 8, 2020 Posted December 8, 2020 He was something special. A brave man. God bless his family and comfort them...

peteski Posted December 9, 2020 Posted December 9, 2020 He lived a long and very exciting life. May he rest in peace.
1930fordpickup Posted December 9, 2020 Posted December 9, 2020 He sure lived a good life. Thankfully.
Lunajammer Posted December 9, 2020 Posted December 9, 2020 A true national hero. I had the honor of attending one of his talks and meeting him afterward (in a receiving line). In another very thin brush with greatness, I lived my teens and early 20's in a house here in Fargo designed and lived in by the chief engineer and chief test pilot of the F-20 Tigershark, Darrel Cornell, who was an associate of Yeager's who himself was also a test pilot and promoter of the F-20.
