He went to his grave intact. Hopefully most of us here will! I just wish I could have done it sooner. The clinic that I will be getting it done thru was so backed up that they didn't have an opening for a few months.......
JollySipper Posted October 10, 2024 Posted October 10, 2024 Well, guys, we've been to the vet and gotten fixed...... I don't see where they 'fixed' anything, though. In fact, he's missing a couple parts. 2
JollySipper Posted October 19, 2024 Posted October 19, 2024 Gave ol' Emmett a bath today.......... I couldn't for a week after his surgery. The iodine they covered him in was making him itchy something bad....... Here he is getting my couch wet! 2

HomerS Posted November 10, 2024 Posted November 10, 2024 April 2023, I lost Jamie (Aussie) to kidney disease and Brian (Husky/Aussie) to liver cancer two weeks apart. My heart was ripped from my chest as we went from three dogs to one. As I checked the local shelters, I came upon Shasta (Aussie). She was withdrawn as her family dumped her at the shelter as she was herding the kids (um....that's what an Aussie does!) She was so shutdown, they had to bearhug her to bring her out to meet me. She was not really interested in meeting me or what I had to offer. She was five years years old but I was there to meet her and another Aussie that was just a year old. It was love at first sight so I had no need to meet the other dog. She needed me as much as I needed her...... Earlier this week, I had all the fur kids out in the yard and I Shasta (now known as Riley) was sitting at the edge of the steps just watching. She is a little bigger than Jamie was but considerably stronger. I snapped this picture of her just looking down the down with a serious FAFO look. Confidence her breed is known for has been restored! 2

When my wife and I were looking for another dog, we visited with 8-9 different different dogs, unfortunately most of them were from bad situations and were defensive towards men. Breaks my heart that people evil in that way. We found Harper and everything just clicked. You did a great thing and I'm sure Riley loves you for it.

TonyK Posted November 10, 2024 Posted November 10, 2024 We've had this one for 2 years now and it took 6 months for him to trust me even though I fed him and took him on walks. He would still be wary of me so obviously the men folk hadn't treated him well. He was ok with my wife. Now we're best buds and wrestle on a daily basis. You don't know what went on previously when you get a rescue dog. Our other rescue warmed up to me immediately. 4
JollySipper Posted November 21, 2024 Posted November 21, 2024 Emmett looks like he's flying upside-down........ They say that when a dog lays on it's back to sleep, that it's at home! 3

Makes you wonder what they're dreaming about. 1
HomerS Posted December 17, 2024 Posted December 17, 2024 (edited) Frank (the deaf dachshund) first Christmas! I started doing this a couple rescues ago as I want the dog to bury their past and this IS their forever home! Edited December 17, 2024 by HomerS 2
TonyK Posted December 17, 2024 Posted December 17, 2024 My son and his wife did this with their little dog. The dog is full of energy and they said it took awhile for her not to want to bite Santa. Sorry I don't have a picture handy but it looked very similar to yours. Got to hand it to these Santa's that put up with crying kids and dogs.
espo Posted December 17, 2024 Posted December 17, 2024 The dogs are often better behaved than some of the children I have seen on Santa's lap.
Nazz Posted December 18, 2024 Author Posted December 18, 2024 Hey guys, I also play Santa for a local Rescue, been doing it for a number of years now, and I love it! For me it started when they came to me needing someone to fill in and been doing it every Christmas since. One year we even had a horse! Good thing they didn't sit on Santa's lap! Jerry 1
Big_John Posted December 24, 2024 Posted December 24, 2024 We took our dog to the shelter where we got him for a pic with Santa. He's a normally pretty mellow guy, but he was a bit on edge when we got there. Completely out of character for him. We got our turn with Santa and didn't he lift his leg on the poor guy. Seems there was a "intact" dog in before him that marked old Santa's boots. No one was upset, except us, and Santa was wearing rubber boots and had a bucket of soap and water with a brush to clean up. We decided not to take him back the next year.
