JollySipper Posted August 23 Posted August 23 Guys, this crazy dog of mine, he's developed this kind of odd but cute habit lately......... I sleep in the living room on the couch. I do this so he can be where I am, as his crate and chair are in the living room. Right as I nod off asleep, he gets beside of me, sits and stares at me until I wake up again. When I do wake up, I give him a few pets of reassurance, then he'll leave me alone to sleep! I guess he's just making sure that I'm okay or something........... 1 2

Both of mine will hound me (no pun intended) for my water bottles. They love them. Harper can be a bit rude at times, she will actively try and take it from your hand. She's learning her manors, slowly. We've only had her about a year. 1

Andria H Posted August 31 Posted August 31 More of Soraya... bottom one was her in the yard, top one is her cuddled up near me on the couch
JollySipper Posted Thursday at 08:15 PM Posted Thursday at 08:15 PM I'm right proud of my dog right now! The neighbors' "pitt" got away from them (for the third time!?) this evening and ran up to us growling and snarling at Emmett....... again. He just looked down at it like 'What dahell is THIS thing?' He didn't even snarl back. Like the little dog was just being a pest! Kinda drove home the fact that I have to move, though.......... 1

Sounds like those neighbors don't have a dog, they have a status symbol. People exploit that breeds protective instinct as such. What kind of dog is Emmett, you said he had to look down at the pit? 1

I think Emmett may be part Great Pyrenees! He has the temperment and the mannerisms of one...... The dog that the other tenants have was part of a litter that they had in their apartment (yep.....) then sold off the mom and other pups. It's a blue 'exotic' bully-type dog. Here's a pic that shows my boys whole self. You can't see it here, but he has eyeliner markings like a Pyr would have.......... 6
espo Posted Friday at 05:45 PM Posted Friday at 05:45 PM Dogs so often seem better than most people. They're honest and loyal. 2
NOBLNG Posted Friday at 06:19 PM Posted Friday at 06:19 PM (edited) We are dog-sitting my wife’s sister’s dog for the next couple of days. He is a Bernese Mountain dog and a very needy boy. Nice dog but suffers from separation anxiety. He misses his mama and almost never stops panting . Edited yesterday at 11:50 AM by NOBLNG 5 1

Poor guy is probably stressed that his family has left him. They don't always understand that this is a visit and not an abandonment situation.
TonyK Posted 23 hours ago Posted 23 hours ago I've always said how much we're able to communicate with our dogs and vice versa but we still aren't able to explain things to them. Example being this. If only you could explain the situation like you would when dropping a kid off somewhere it would make things so much better. 2
