I have the sub-assemblies completed. Trim foiling and decals then put her together. At first was gonna do aftermarket wheels but went ahead and decided use the as delivered ones.

Only deviation from stock is the paint is Anita's Black Metallic craft paint over Krylon primer (the gold flakes are gold and very subtle). Cleared with Rustoleum Acrylic Laquer.

Thanks, and yes Craig it did spray and smooth out pretty darn good. I first sprayed it with Folkart or DecoArt (don't remember which one it was) and I really didn't like it as much as the Anita's Metallic Black. Really didn't want to do it metallic but I had previously sprayed a car with the Metallic and it looked good so I went ahead and used it again.

Hey Mike!  Any updates?

Sanded off the crooked decals since none of the suggestions to remove them I got on another thread failed. So of course had to remove the foil trim, windows, etc. My wife ordered another kit so now I will have 2 to build (one the 350H and the other don't know yet.  My plan is to use the new body on this build. Hopefully better paint job next go around.

Hi Mike. I really love anything Shelby, so I’ll be looking in on this one. You’re doing a nice job ... that interior is great!  Nice detail throughout so far. I remember your Createx thread ... glad to see you’re sticking with the water base stuff. It really is a lot easier to deal with for cleanup and mixing paint.?

Thanks Josh. I think I mentioned it's the first Ford model I've build (with exception of some Nascar kits years ago). Will be paint weather here this week so gonna try out the Stynelrez primer on it.

Hang in there Mike, don’t get overwhelmed wit the new kits coming brother...

Bummer about the decals, Mike. I had a problem with my '66 Shelby Mustang stripes as well. I just couldn't get the hood and trunk stripes to lay down right, and then they ripped, so I just put on the GT 350 rocker stripes and called it good, lol.

As a matter of fact, yes.  Success at last. Anitas Craft paint with Dave G's thinner blend  did the trick. Will try to get a few pictures on here.

Nice!   Looking fwd to the pics

The repaint without clear.

With Rustoleum Crystal Clear Acrylic Lacquer

Not the greatest picture to show the actual finish, but it did come out very good. A little orange peel in the clear but I'm only gonna do a light rub out with Automotive Polishing compound (very light grit) then polish.

Hopefully some better pictures to follow.

Looking great!  I got my front valance on and am waiting for the glue to dry. I get too impatient!

Boy that Rustoleum Crystal Clear Acrylic Lacquer really looks like a nice clear, I can't wait for the warm weather to get here in Michigan so I can try it! What's the thinner blend that you used, I've seen a few different formulas for good acrylic thinner?
