lordgodbob Posted March 6, 2021 Posted March 6, 2021 So, I perpetually have a million things in process, and a few months ago I saw that I had all the parts and pieces to build this car, so I thought I’d throw it together. I am pathologically unable to leave well enough alone, so I had to build a slightly different version than what’s on the box. This is pre-P/M when this was a Top Sportsman car. Different graphics, different number, etc. paint came out great, but it’s still a tiny bit too soft for final assembly so it’ll sit like this for a couple weeks. So close! Oh well, I have plenty to do...
TransAmMike Posted March 9, 2021 Posted March 9, 2021 I like's it Tim, but of course anything '57 Chevy I like. Looks great?

lordgodbob Posted March 10, 2021 Author Posted March 10, 2021 So, I love the back end of drag cars. Wheelie bars, chutes, all the switches and whatnot. I’ve always spent a lot of time making the back end look good. this kit has really good detail already, but I added a few things. Parachute cords are waxed string I picked up at a craft store. I used medical tape for the covers at the attachment point, which is just piano wire bent up and mounted to the back of the body. Chute release cables are just wire with the end stripped off. I attach the cable to the parachute by bending a tiny piece of wire and pushing it through a hole I drilled. It’s not cord, like the real thing would be, but it looks good. A pushpin is the battery shutoff and I found an “off” decal in my pile of old decal sheets. I need to touch up the chrome in a couple places, and paint the end of the pin black, but that’s about it. Pretty happy with this one!
