These seem to be finally arriving in the UK, been wanting to build one since it was announced. Basic curbside kit, though it does have nicely detailed inner fenders, opening hood and a space in the chassis for an engine, but strangely, doesn't come with one. I was hoping to fit the slant six from my '64 Belvedere kit, I know it's a Mopar and this is Chevy, but it was a thought. Unfortunately the slant six from that kit is way too big, I'd also have to make a radiator, master cylinder, battery and a heater box, so I decided there's no craftsmanship happening on my part here and just glued the hood on, Lol! I've made a start on the foiling, I'm attempting foil under paint again but this time I know what to look out for to avoid any issues with this method, I still may screw it up though but I'm hoping I can only get better the more I try it. Colour will be a bluish grey, I might do the roof and pillars in white but if I'm not feeling it it'll be all one colour.

Got the paint on. The grey I originally was going for looked too dark and bland, it literally looked like dark primer, so into the stripper it went and a change of colour. It wasn't until after I painted it I realised it looks a lot like a Fire Chiefs car, or Ambulance! So that's the direction I want to go with this. I have close to the right accessories, like lights, siren, radio, etc  but I don't have any fire or ambulance decals, and I have no idea what type of decals would be period correct. Any help will be much appreciated. I can get some made up at my local print shop then, or stick an add in wanted.

They sure do! Check it out here. Norm Veber also makes one as I got mine from him. Quite sure it's a repop of the old annual straight six from back then.

Thanks, guys. Thanks for the link, just wish they were in the UK. Unless they know what loopholes to jump through when posting I'd be robbed on import charges, even on $10!

Good change of tack there mate, looks great in the emergency colours and that huge gumball machine on the top really closes the look!

I agree on the import charges. I used to buy a lot from the States but not now, our government rips us off as soon as it lands in GB.

The roof beacon is from the '57 Del Rio wagon. Yeah, the likes of ebay have figured out they can profit from import charges by offering sellers the "global shipping program" All well and good for the seller, but the buyer ends up paying for the privilege, even on goods that are duty free.

Got the underside detailed and started blackwashing some parts. Pretty good detail for a one piece chassis, it can be picked out quite easily and looks good.

Floorpan looks great, love the blending. Grille looks brill too!

Cheers, Stephen. Believe it or not, the floor was all done with aerosol cans. That's all I've ever used, so I've kind of got it down to a fine art! Lol

You certainly have! You'll have to give us a step by step on one someday.

I could try. The best way I can explain it is, you don't paint the part, rather, you dust or fan around it. Most of the aerosol is blown into the wind.

Body is finished. I found some lights in my parts tin to mount on the roof and Rockford kindly supplied me the decals. Just the interior left now and this one is done. Awesome little model, it's such a basic bare bones kit it almost begs for the builder to do more with it than what comes in the box! If this was a more detailed kit I doubt I would have done all this to it.

I like the dashboard in this kit, easily detailed and comes with a decal for the clocks. The CB radio is from my parts tin, I think it's from the Chevy Nova Squad Rod.

Got the interior finished last night. The detail on the door cards is lacking, especially on the driver side it's almost smooth. Done the best I could but I'm happy enough with it. I added a tool box and fire extinguisher in the load bay just so it didn't look so empty in there. I broke the telephone receiver that came with the kit, it's very fragile and shattered like glass, it was on the red clear sprue and seems a lot more brittle than the white styrene, but I have loads of telephones in my spares tin so just threw one of them in.

Making this one as a Fire Chief is an excellent idea!

And well executed to boot.

Thanks, David.
