David G. Posted June 20, 2021 Posted June 20, 2021 As best as I can determine, I bought and built this kit back in 2011, but for some reason I never posted anything about it on the MCM Forum. So I'm posting this thread to correct that omission. For those who may be interested, here is a link to the WIP thread. This was a quick and satisfying build. There were two figures that came with the kit, but I thought they looked kind of dorky, so I didn't use them. I am truly grateful that Polar lights released this pre-painted version. It allowed me to build a good model of the classic Batmobile without having to fight with the tricky paintjob. Not to mention the potential of having to live with the disappointment of a less than adequate model on the shelf. A "pair-o-chutes". I spent some time detailing the screen covers that go over the headlights hoping to add some depth to the detail but it was a complete waste of time. I'm still very happy with the way it all turned out though. And finally, the "cover shot". Of all the Batmobiles, this and the 1989 version are my two favorites. Though it's impossible to keep the dust off this one. As always, thanks for taking the time to look and please feel free to leave a comment. David G.
1959scudetto Posted June 20, 2021 Posted June 20, 2021 Nice representation of batman's nicest vehicle, David - did you use BMF for the edges of the glass canopy? (When I was a 7-year-old boy, all of my friends wanted to have the Monkeemobile and the batmobile - a few years ago, I bought a diecast Batmobile in 1/24, but I have to detail it a little bit - your model certainly helps.)
slusher Posted June 20, 2021 Posted June 20, 2021 Very sharp original Batmobile. Nothing wrong with a snap kit for a enjoyable build..

carbuilder1950 Posted June 20, 2021 Posted June 20, 2021 @David G. I like how clean your Batmobile came out. Very, very nice ?. I love all the different variations of the Batmobile down through the years. I have all the different versions, and have built one with several more to go. Fun stuff this model car hobby.
SickBoy Posted June 20, 2021 Posted June 20, 2021 Great job David, super clean. Of all the Batmobiles this is still my favorite.

Thanks Helmut. Yes, I did use Bare Metal foil for the canopy frames. 21 hours ago, slusher said: Very sharp original Batmobile. Nothing wrong with a snap kit for a enjoyable build.. Thank you Carl. I agree, especially the Polar Light snap kits, they're on par with many glue kits for quality, detail and engineering. 20 hours ago, Classicgas said: x2. I'm a bit of a Bat-fan myself and I've built several Bat-related vehicles. There's this one, the 1989 version with the accompanying 1992 Bat-Missile, the flashy neon festooned Batmobile from Batman Forever in 1995, The Tumbler and Bat-Pod from the Dark Knight series, A Gotham City Police cruiser, and a 49 Mercury as a Joker Mobile with accompanying figure. I also have the one from Batman v Superman in my stash... with a Green Strawberry photo etch kit. 17 hours ago, grodudulle77 said: Awesome look !!?? David G. Posted July 12, 2021 Author Posted July 12, 2021 As is my tradition, here is a shot of the Batmobile in my display case. I call this shelf the "Bat Cave". Thanks again, David G.
