bill-e-boy Posted October 2, 2021 Posted October 2, 2021 Hi Bill Good to see you back at the bench and good luck with the project - I'll be watching with interest I did not know Revell did a "Switchers" model - wasn't that MPC lol Cheers Bill-e-boy 1

Depending on the politics in the air at the time I will consider that! We do have an office there, so maybe I can make it a work trip!

Bullybeef Posted October 3, 2021 Author Posted October 3, 2021 Well it’s chassis day, I need 11 usable frames, so far I have salvaged 9 from my rebuilder pile! I have 1 new kit set aside for the four door ( using the drag city casting body). sadly some of these frames are in rough shape and will need some serious love, and at least 4 of them will need a new front suspension set up as nearly all of them had pieces broken off or missing. so that leads to only one thing !! Creativity!! ?
Bullybeef Posted October 4, 2021 Author Posted October 4, 2021 To pick up from where I left off, frames! Managed to find and pick through 11 frames in various states of unbuilt to ragged wretched pieces of styrene that should be best sent back to the scrap pile it came from, but I love a challenge. So I’ve selected the best of the worst to start with. I’ll be following a tutorial from our resident @Ace-Garageguy Bill to start my first z-ed frame follow along as I try not to muck this up!
Paul Payne Posted October 4, 2021 Posted October 4, 2021 If you don't need those quick changes....? With a z'd frame in the works, I am assuming non stock builds? I suspect there will be some sleepers!

Bullybeef Posted October 4, 2021 Author Posted October 4, 2021 Updates, there are updates! I have most of them up on wheels at this point, I need to pilfer some more front end parts from the stash piles. I’ve spent most of Sunday evening getting frames cleaned up and ready for some assembly. Deciding on which body’s will get fenders is the next decision. So far only one is mocked up with fenders ( the delivery van ). The phaeton may be another that gets fenders!
Bullybeef Posted October 4, 2021 Author Posted October 4, 2021 Z’ed frame 1 seems to be a success! phaeton on 34 fenders looks pretty sleek, I’ll lengthen the hood and see how it looks!
Bullybeef Posted October 4, 2021 Author Posted October 4, 2021 I know it’s very modern, but something about this lindberg 37 Ford frame is so cool! Maybe I’ll narrow it and make it work under one of the bodies??♂️
Paul Payne Posted October 5, 2021 Posted October 5, 2021 If you need more quick changes including axle tubes, contact Replicas and Miniatures- Norm also has a bunch of flathead parts and Deuce parts- sometimes the stash gives out despite our best efforts to repurpose and recycle! 1

Oh I still have resources lol! I haven’t broken open any new kits for parts yet, I have a nice little stash of 27-48 kits for parts!
Paul Payne Posted October 5, 2021 Posted October 5, 2021 You do indeed! I like the chassis pinned to the corkboard!

Bullybeef Posted October 8, 2021 Author Posted October 8, 2021 So I’ve had a little add over this whole project and I find myself skipping back and forth from different stages! So I’ve gotten back to my focus of working on the chassis assembly line. I settled in finding, sorting and repairing enough front and rear suspension pieces. Many hours of picking dries blobs of glue ☹️ So far I’ve gotten 5 of the 11 frames and suspensions up and together (ish). Still a fair bit of work to do, I’ve been trying to use as many of the revell chassis components as possible as I really like the way they look. But I will be adding some Amt parts into the mix. stay tuned. And as always “all” comments are welcome. to quote one of my favourite builders @Kit Karson enjoy the yard sale of parts

NOBLNG Posted October 8, 2021 Posted October 8, 2021 Fantastic work you’re doing there. I have enough trouble getting ONE build on the go.?

This build has been in my head for months, just waiting for the time to get set up! I’m super excited about this, I’m trying to sort through and gather all the parts for each build, but doing prep work along the way, kind of like meal prep haha. 11 frames, 11 suspensions, 11 engines, 11 sets of wheels etc etc… the challenge is making them all different. 1
Bullybeef Posted October 9, 2021 Author Posted October 9, 2021 Im thinking this will be a great stance!
Bullybeef Posted October 10, 2021 Author Posted October 10, 2021 Well I have 10 of 11 frames and suspension components sorted and rehabilitated enough to start moving forward. Looks like I will have to break open only one new kit for a chassis and components! So far I have two frames mocked up with fenders, I may add a third. the next chapter will focus on wheels and engines, yes there will be flatheads @Paul Payneand possibly a hot four?
