Mopar - D Posted October 6, 2021 Posted October 6, 2021 I’m on a roll now with car transporters and this one is going to be a 7 car hauler using the AMT Autocar A64B truck and the Revell Auto-transporter trailer. There’s some scratch building for the car racks on the truck and modifications for the trailer. I’m going with a low hitch position for the trailer. I’ve added 50 scale inches to the frame so far. I’ve attached some pictures of a Autocar transporter that I’m using as a reference for my build. I’m also painting it yellow similar to the M&G trucks. As always your comments are always welcome and appreciated.
Bills72sj Posted October 6, 2021 Posted October 6, 2021 Adding a 7th parking spot is on my agenda when I get around to building the two of mine. Following.

Thanks Bill, there’s lots of different ways to modify this trailer and cabs to increase the number of cars to carry. 7 hours ago, slusher said: Nice start Dan, you are doing some building.. Thanks Carl. I’ve got a lot of spare time on my hands these days while looking and waiting for my next job. I’ve been working on the lower deck of the truck and started working on the trailer so I can figure out the details for the hitch and the front of the trailer.
Warren D Posted October 7, 2021 Posted October 7, 2021 If you want to go retro, AITM has a hood conversion for the A-car that looks close to the photos. I used one with my A-Car mixer many moons ago.
Bills72sj Posted October 7, 2021 Posted October 7, 2021 Here are pics of someone (not me) who has done the 7 car hauler mod.
gotnitro? Posted October 8, 2021 Posted October 8, 2021 wow, building a 7 car hauler ! I cant wait to see this come together.

Thanks Warren for the information on the hood conversion I’m not going to make this one identical to the pictures just the basic type of hauler with the 3 cars on the truck and 4 on the trailer. 8 hours ago, Bills72sj said: Here are pics of someone (not me) who has done the 7 car hauler mod. Thanks Bill that’s a nice modern hauler. 37 minutes ago, gotnitro? said: wow, building a 7 car hauler ! I cant wait to see this come together. Thanks Jeff and it’s going to have PE deck plates on the upper front deck to. I have been working on the hitch and trailer connection. I’ve added some steel in the hitch to make sure it will hold up with the trailer weight. I’ve also figured out how I’m going to build the upper deck on the truck. My spare parts from the Haul Away trailer are coming in real nicely. Here’s today’s mock up and test fitting.
Pete68 Posted October 8, 2021 Posted October 8, 2021 (edited) Dan I have a soft spot for those Acars. Nice start Edited October 8, 2021 by Pete68

There’s a lot of yellow paint on this build. lol. I’m going to be working on the upper deck on the truck next to get the remaining 2 cars on. 1

Mopar - D Posted October 12, 2021 Author Posted October 12, 2021 Thanks Lee Today I started on the upper deck on the truck. Still need to add the front supports. I’ve also got some more details to add to the main section to.
Mopar - D Posted October 12, 2021 Author Posted October 12, 2021 Only 1152 holes drilled on this one Chris. I’ve been working on the front support and not sure if I like it narrow I’m thinking about moving the up rights out so they line up centered on each ramp. Like in the photo lol.
TransAmMike Posted October 13, 2021 Posted October 13, 2021 I very seldom look at big trucks but this one caught my interest. Really cool build there Dan?
chris chabre Posted October 13, 2021 Posted October 13, 2021 "only" haha I suppose that is the most appropriate word I agree on the supports, Id move them out farther
gotnitro? Posted October 13, 2021 Posted October 13, 2021 Your really making progress! Those pe deck plates worked out good for the extension, really can see the detail on them I agree ..gotta shift the supports . The a- car better get the green treatment under the hood , it is hauling a load of "the brother of muscle " !

I’m going with the kit Cummins in this one. Check out the reworked front supports.
tbill Posted October 13, 2021 Posted October 13, 2021 Another great looking car hauler project you’ve got going on here! I gotta admit though, you make me mad, cause every time you do one, I think to myself, man, I gotta do one like that too, and I already have enough projects/squirrels running around the build room! Haha! Keep it up man, looking great ?
Mopar - D Posted October 13, 2021 Author Posted October 13, 2021 (edited) For the most part I’m done with the truck part of the hauler. I’ve reworked the front supports moving them out past the head lights also added more braces and a ladder. I know that the convertible Challenger with the top do is not what you would see on a car hauler I’m just using it for now as a place holder until I build one of my other 70’s Mopars. I’m not sure yet which one I’m going to build to replace the convertible. Edited October 13, 2021 by Mopar - D
