Bronzekeg Posted November 17, 2021 Posted November 17, 2021 taking a break from building trucks, time to work on some cars. the super bees were one of my favorite muscle cars. I liked the styling more so than the road runners. this is the mpc kit that I have had for a few years. should be a fun build with comments and criticisms welcomed.
Zippi Posted November 17, 2021 Posted November 17, 2021 That should be a fun build Ken. Going with one of the box art colors? Note: you have two post showing on the same model.
Keef Posted November 17, 2021 Posted November 17, 2021 My most favorite Mopar EVER!! I will be watching this build ?
Olskoolrodder Posted November 18, 2021 Posted November 18, 2021 I always loved the looks of those, looking forward to watching your build

Bronzekeg Posted November 19, 2021 Author Posted November 19, 2021 I got the engine assembled and started painting driveline parts. having problems with my choice of colors. I have used the exact same color on a truck without problems. it seems the paint is way too thin and not laying down properly. I've tested it on a spoon and it's the color I'm looking for and it laid down nice but on an inner fender it gave uneven coverage. on to the chassis for now. I've never had trouble with testors paints before, not even the candy colors. 1
Katsusauce Posted November 19, 2021 Posted November 19, 2021 Motor looking great....hope you get the paint issue smoothed out.
Mopar - D Posted November 20, 2021 Posted November 20, 2021 Nice progress Ken I also hope your able to get your paint to work for you.
Bills72sj Posted November 20, 2021 Posted November 20, 2021 I like the black wash on the alternator. Following.

Keef Posted November 20, 2021 Posted November 20, 2021 That engine looks amazing! If I may, can I make a tiny suggestion? the bottom edge of the air cleaner needs to be white to represent the paper air filter.
Mike C. Posted November 20, 2021 Posted November 20, 2021 Great detail work on the 440 six pack. Its nice that that engine came with this model. The didn't Hemi you to death like with every other Chrysler product out there. Do they give you a choice of the '69 Bumble Bee tailstripe on the decal sheet. I too am exited about this build.

I believe that particular kit comes with white and black “C-stripes” for the sides and also red, black, and white tail stripes on the decal sheet
Mike C. Posted November 20, 2021 Posted November 20, 2021 Thanks Keith! Anybody know who makes the nicest Mopar rally wheels?
Bronzekeg Posted November 20, 2021 Author Posted November 20, 2021 thank you. this particular kit has a choice of red white and black wrap around stripes or black and white c-stripes.
Bronzekeg Posted November 20, 2021 Author Posted November 20, 2021 (edited) I decided on gloss black with a mist of dull coat for the chassis. at one time under coating was popular. I got the driveline mounted to the frame. needs a couple touch ups. the rims have been blacked out tire tread still needs sanded. thank you all for interest and input. Bronzekeg Posted November 20, 2021 Author Posted November 20, 2021 I think I got the paint problem solved, a bad can of paint. getting a fresh can that I tested on an old body that seems to be fine.
