Can anyone get me pictures of what they look like,I have only built 70s and newer versions and would like to see what the originals look like.  I am wanting to build a early 50s hotrod out of the 60s 34 kit using all vintage or vintage based Monogram parts, thinking about using 41 lincoln rims since they will be easier to find but would like to see what the original 40 kit had.

Only that first issue had the stock wheels.  They had holes where the lug detail would be.  Tires are the ubiquitous Monogram 1/24 scale skinny tire with whitewall insert, as in their '58 Thunderbird kit.  Wires are nicely done too.

The Lincoln tires and wheels are a lot taller, neither interchanges with the pickup parts.

I've got an original but its not that complete. I think I may have put the engine and some other bits in the flathead pile i sent you. I'll look in the box to see what wheels are in it

Jeff just use steel wheels from the Revell 40 Ford. The stockish version.

If I can find any,I have never seen any since that kit came out years before I started building.  When it came out I was starting to play with Matchbox cars.

What I am trying to do on this build is do a kit bash like someone could have done when the kit was new and not in a hurry so I can try to use all the vintage parts but if I can not then I will cheat and use the newer rims.

^^^ Only problem is that increasingly mindless Google has modified its search function algorithms to the point where that doesn't work anywhere near as well as when I posted it.

The continuing quest by people who really don't know what they're doing to "fix" and "improve" things usually ends up just trashing whatever happens to be the object of their efforts on any given day.

May I present the Lambo Googilissimo Edition:

There is a 40 p/u engine in the box that will be going in the 34,found out I do have the rims from the Revell 40 standard but thinking the Lincoln rims might be better.  I have others to build before I get to the 34 so I have time to get the parts I want.

If you're building a hot rod 34 use the Lincoln wheels and tires on the back and the 40 wheels and tires on the front for a vintage "rubber rake"

That is what I would like to do and might have find a junker 40 to grab the rims and tires from if I can find one that is not worth restoring.  I am going to try my best to use all vintage parts and since the 34 is unbuilt would love to find all new parts but not going to hold out for them.as I could be dead before that happens.

First off, are you aware you are posting in bold using the size 36 font?

Second, the Google search method still works great. I use it multiple each day for this forum.

Had Jeff taken the time to search, he would have seen a picture of the first issue of the stock wheels in the first Google search hit result-- exactly what he was asking to see. Instead, we now have a redundant topic, multiple people providing other info which was already discussed and posted months ago, and Jeff still has no idea how to find anything on his own.

Here's the screen shot of the Google search results using: site: modelcarsmag.com monogram 40 ford pickup

Click that first topic, and the first post has the exact thing he wanted to see:

Wrong. Only the up-arrows are in 36 point because they hardly show otherwise.

The rest is in 16, I believe...according to how the forum displays typeface size on my computer, anyway.

And I often post in larger-than-default bold type as it seems to ease the readability of text on some tiny devices.

Far as Google's search function goes, the site: modelcarsmag search works reasonably well, but I use Google constantly for big-boy technical research. It gets dumber and more useless every year.

EDIT: Perhaps you've noticed you now have to dig for the "advanced" search function on Google, as it's no longer displayed as a normal option?
