Dug some wheels out of the stash for the 2017 Camaro, I 3D printed awhile back. 

Now I just need to get them mounted. Then I can get them painted.

ha ha, yeah Nigel just styrene and CA glue for filler.

I will be sure to take a photo for you when I take it back to bare plastic when I do further body work.

Thanks Bob. The pure red kinda reminded me of old Ruby and the bright red paint.

You bet Buddy.  It does.  The paint on Ruby is a GM Bright Red that was used for 28 years.

Thanks Anton, lots of wips happening at the moment.

Once I get through painting a bunch of bodies, I plan settle down and chip away at finishing a few one by one.

Body prep finished and applied first coat of 1500 black surfacer.

Also got the wheels mounted and stance roughed in.

Opened the kit grill area, and will install some photo etch mesh.

Really nice looking stance Luke.  I like the tires tucked in the fenders just like you have yours.

Cheers Bob, I like how they stance the modern cars where the tyre and rim are flush with the fender lip. Aka hella flush.

Takes a lot fidgeting to get the fitment correct. I only have it close enough for now. Final assembly I will try get it spot on.

The Holden LJ Torana Burnout car is fresh from the spray booth.

Started with a SMS paints Jet Black base coat.

Then applied the colour coat

First 3 pics are under desk top lighting and over exposed a bit.

And the following pics are overhead LED batten.

Starting to plan out another Holden HQ build.

I 3D printed the rims and used Aoshima tyres. Sourced the 3D printed scoop from a seller on ebay.

And here comes another fine looking ride coming down the pipe line.  That hood scoop looks pretty kew and I'm diggin the wheels and tires.

Thanks Brian, the guy who designed the wheels done an excellent job. The raised detail made it easy to paint using the reverse wash technique

Yeah Bob, need try out the idea's when you get them sometimes. Got a nice colour picked out for it too, hoping I can get the paint applied next week.

Hectic day in the spray booth, got the final coats of surfacer on 5 builds. Which im so glad is done, now I get enjoy the process of apply the paint after many hours of prep work.

 

Also 3D printed and painted some more appropriate scale wheels for the red HQ. I will redo the tyres as I made the mistake of putting the lower profile on the rear instead of the front.

Well 2 years later I finally applied some paint to the Hakosuka 😁

 

Needs a change of wheels.

Also applied a white base coat to the HQ. Looking forward to applying the pearl colour coat.

Those wheels are absolutely stunning!! Any chance you can explain the reverse wash technique? I can’t quite get my head around it…🤓🤷🏻‍♂️ Those are about the most beautifully painted wheels I’ve seen. It’s awesome to see you getting paint on these builds, hoping we get to see them come together later. I really do need to break down and buy a couple of the DDA cars. Great work as always my friend.
