I finished these two in 2021. I started working on the Mack, just before the start of the year. In the midst of that, I built the Goldenrod for the 24 Hour Build deal. The Mack actually won "Best '20s, '30s, '40s" at one of the shows I entered it in. I think that's not too bad, since, hey, it ain't a hot rod. Or a Classic! Anyway, thanks for looking.

I remember following your WIP on the Mack. Mind-blowing detail work and scratch building skills.

The Goldenrod is a beautiful replica.

Thank you, much, David! The Summers brothers built such a gorgeous racer, to begin with...?

As the expression goes, Nice Pair! Both are beautifully executed for the kind of model it's intended to be. The Mack as an antique with all the right shading applied to the surfaces. I can see why it's a contest winner. The Goldenrod, IIRC, is a nearly solid plug of resin and getting it right is all about paint and surface detail. The panel lines, paint shade choices and all those rivets handle the detail and paint appears flawless. I'm curious about the cockpit windscreen. I'm assuming is "merely" painted in place. How was it done? It's very convincing.

All the best in 2022, Dan.

Thanks so much, Bernard. The Mack was really my first go at overall weathering on anything except a couple of 1/72 scale tanks I built 30 years ago, or so. You're correct about the Goldenrod kit. It's a total of, like 14 or 15 parts, and the main one could be used for self-defense! It's one hefty hunk of resin! I made the collectors from aluminum tubing, and added a pushbar made of brass. The tail was finished to look somewhat like the fiberglass resin of the real one. The windscreen is, as you assumed, painted on. I simply applied a heavy coat of Humbrol metallic blue. It did work out, petty well! Thanks again for your kind words, my friend! May your '22 be a fine one!
