GLMFAA1 Posted October 5, 2022 Posted October 5, 2022 Nice project, gonna look good. Phil Jenson's 'how to' was on the money. Comparing it to a First Gear die cast. I used airplane aileron hinges for the side out riggers doors. You will probably find something better; this was built when I first saw Phils article way back when. greg 2
Chariots of Fire Posted October 5, 2022 Posted October 5, 2022 I have Phil Jensen's book from way back when. Some good stuff there. Nice photo, Greg!!
slusher Posted October 5, 2022 Posted October 5, 2022 Real nice work Pat, removing the skirt between the wheels ?!
1930fordpickup Posted October 6, 2022 Posted October 6, 2022 Pat this is going to fit right into your collection of trucks.

gatorincebu Posted October 7, 2022 Posted October 7, 2022 Pat , I like what you've done thus far . It all looks good from here ! Be Well Gator 1
landman Posted October 14, 2022 Author Posted October 14, 2022 Assembled the cut down body and added the outrigger doors. Not having any slam locks anymore, or at least not finding them, I used PE seat belt clips for handles. 1
landman Posted October 14, 2022 Author Posted October 14, 2022 Looks like it will work. I must remember to score the inside to show the shutlines.
GLMFAA1 Posted October 14, 2022 Posted October 14, 2022 Hint: From late Tom Showers, here is a method of making round slam locks. Drill a hole the size of the lock, then on the back of the door place thin sheet piece at the lock hole covering it. Take a small dowel of plastic and place in hole at the diameter of the hole. Done many years ago. Photo not the greatest. but it is an example of his work. greg 2 1
Chariots of Fire Posted October 14, 2022 Posted October 14, 2022 I've still got some of the round door locks and the square ones as well. They would be easy to cast. A molotow pen would brighten them up.
