Bronzekeg Posted January 29, 2022 Posted January 29, 2022 this is the newly re released kit. 3 build options, I'm going to build the stock version. should be fun, I've built 2 of the grand prix versions. c&c are welcome as usual. 2
bisc63 Posted January 29, 2022 Posted January 29, 2022 (edited) Look forward to seeing what you do with this! Custom parts look interesting, could you post a pic when you get around to starting? I may need to grab one of these... Oops! Just saw that HpiGuy did a video review and gave a good view of all the sprues, so I got a good look. Several mentions of this kit on the forum, but no pics of the custom parts. Will be watching your progress, it's a handsome subject. Edited January 30, 2022 by bisc63 correction
chris chabre Posted January 29, 2022 Posted January 29, 2022 Id love to see one of these with the custom stuff attached. May have to find a review somewhere
deuces wild Posted January 29, 2022 Posted January 29, 2022 Maybe attach those custom parts on with some Elmer's white glue and take some pictures of it????....??
Bronzekeg Posted January 31, 2022 Author Posted January 31, 2022 thanks all for your interest in this kit. while I like the full blown custom rear treatment I think they could have done a better job with the front. the box depicts the front treatment and it just doesn't do anything for me. the kit can also be built stock and mild custom. I'm personally not fond of the mild custom front either. there are parts for a stock and custom interior, stock and modified engine and 2 complete sets of tires with your choice from 2 sets of rims. pictured are the custom assemblies from the instruction sheet along with the custom decals. 1
bisc63 Posted January 31, 2022 Posted January 31, 2022 Very cool to see the expanded decal sheet with stock emblems and gauge faces. Those whitewall tires look pretty nice, as well. Thank you for the info and pics!
TooOld Posted January 31, 2022 Posted January 31, 2022 Another great body style from the mid 60's , I'm sure some will nit-pick at the body in this kit but I like it ! Thanks for the photos !
Geno Posted January 31, 2022 Posted January 31, 2022 My favorite 60's Bonneville, can't wait to see this one.
chris chabre Posted January 31, 2022 Posted January 31, 2022 now that you show the front end, boy did they drop the ball there. the rear is awesome

espo Posted January 31, 2022 Posted January 31, 2022 Something that caught my eye looking at the pictures of the instructions. They show a Tonneau Cover to go over the rear seat area. Depending on where you are from, that was something that was popular in the late '50's so I was a little surprised to see it in a mid '60's car.
bisc63 Posted January 31, 2022 Posted January 31, 2022 I like the potential in the custom front end pieces, but not for the Pontiac body here! I agree that it just doesn't work for this car, but I can see it working elsewhere.
Bronzekeg Posted February 1, 2022 Author Posted February 1, 2022 well I finally got started on this kit and 2 days later I'm pretty happy with the way the engine is turning out. I find all the input interesting. 1

bisc63 Posted February 1, 2022 Posted February 1, 2022 Much more suited to the body, overall more thoughtful design I think. Your engine is looking the part!
doorsovdoon Posted February 1, 2022 Posted February 1, 2022 Nice kit, one of my favourites. I built one up using the custom parts and it looks pretty good. Looks like this version has a different custom option to the Grand Slam box. Look forward to seeing this built up, mid 60's Bonnies are stunning.
Bronzekeg Posted February 1, 2022 Author Posted February 1, 2022 thank you all for the kind words and checking in on this build. I've been working on the chassis and engine. they're coming along slowly but surely. not sure about the whitewalls yet, I may turn them in just depending how they look once the body is painted. 1
deuces wild Posted February 2, 2022 Posted February 2, 2022 I'm wondering if the amt '62 Catalina chassis pan/ frame will fit the body....?

Bonnevilles were on a longer wheelbase than the lower level Pontiacs. I'm thinking the frame design changed in '65 anyway, but I may be wrong on that.
