Went with a few buddies to the Long Beach Grand Prix and watched Gilles Villeneuve drive this car thru the steets of Long Beach.

So when Fujimi released the model...building it was a slam dunk deal, picked the kit up at the NNL West last March, the only thing added is a seat belt kit from Accusion

Everything fit well, 'cept the body didn't quite set down on the chassis, ended up tackin' it in place with a little bit of canopy glue

Curt, nice job...I have that kit and one of these days will get around to it. I also was at Long Beach for a few Grand Prix's too, just a few years earlier. Anyway, great job...it sure looks nice.

Really great job! Another I kit I have got to find.

What is the deal with the strange rear wing? Some sorta rules dodging tactic? I don't remember seeing that wing before.

Lucky :P wow, that is so cool!

Raul, wasn't it controlled by the driver and adjusted the downforce? I think they were experimenting with that one because with the C3 they had finally devolped a successful wing.

Very nice job on the Ferrari. I have the Protar 1/12 scale version somewhere in my closet and should probably dig out. One of my favorite Ferraris because it ran the turbo charged motor.

Nice build, old buddy!!

What is the story behind the split wing...I forgot?

If I remember correctly...kinda hard know that 'old-timers disease is kickin' in', Ferrari found a hole in the rules and used this dual rear wing set up at Long Beach. F1 banned this set up before the next race.

Maybe some of the F1 afficiondo's out there can fully enlighten us...

Was browsing "you tube" and found a video of the 1982 Long Beach Grand Prix...Gilles was disqualified after the race because the rear wing did not meet F1 specifications.

The announcer was a little perturbed that they let Gilles start and race the car only to disqualify it after the race?

I was at Long Beach in '82 as well. I remember watching those dual wings bounce as GV drove around the circuit.

I have the kit as well, bought for the same reason as the others. It was a cool variation on the Ferrari F1 racer. I have a Brumm 1/43 built-up of the C2 also.

PS: Nice build, Curt!!
