bluestringer Posted April 10, 2022 Posted April 10, 2022 Lots of Nova's being built lately so I decided to get in on it. This is the AMT 66 Nova. The kit gives mixed signals as to where it is a pro street or pro stock. The kit only has slicks for the rear but I found these treaded meats in my parts box so I'm going to make it street legal. Color will be Createx transparent green over a base of Rustoleum bright coat. All comments welcome, thanks for looking. 2
Zippi Posted April 10, 2022 Posted April 10, 2022 The Nova is looking pretty good so far James. That green is going to be pretty kewl looking. You can still run the slicks on the street just not in the rain. Don't ask me how I know ☺ 1

slusher Posted April 11, 2022 Posted April 11, 2022 Real nice color choice on your Nova build. I will be following along… 1
bluestringer Posted April 11, 2022 Author Posted April 11, 2022 Got the body painted. It's not perfect but it's ok. I don't try to get that show car paint job, mine are just for the shelf anyway. No clear on it yet. 3

Vintage AMT Posted April 13, 2022 Posted April 13, 2022 That green is nice, guess if I ever did a "perfect" paint job, I'd be affraid to touch it. Then it wouldn't get built. 1
espo Posted April 13, 2022 Posted April 13, 2022 Color and finish lookk good. Reminds me of the Rally Green color GM offered. 1

As you may remember I'm a Createx and Future user. I put about 10 clear coats on the '57 Chevy I'm doing to get the shine I wanted. How many coats you think you put on? 1

Yes, I followed your procedure using the floor polish but only put on about 5 coats. I used a hair dryer to set it between coats. I like the way it turned out. I've got to work on getting a better color coat.

bluestringer Posted April 16, 2022 Author Posted April 16, 2022 (edited) Calling it done. Photos under glass. There were a few problems with this kit for me. The glass does not fit well. The front spindles are too small and fragile, I broke one trying to get the wheel on. The engine is a tight fit and I had to do some trimming on the mounts to get it in the bay. But it was a fun kit and turned out ok. Edited April 16, 2022 by bluestringer 1
