Today I worked on the bracing at the front end of the trailer and started on the rear bracing.

Doing great. Looks excellent so far!

What a great idea for a trailer. AMT missed an opportunity for doing this.

Thanks Patrick. I agree but there’s a lot of different angles to deal with on this.

More progress on rear end it just needs mud flaps. Added the front fenders. Next will be the bottom dump assembly. Here’s today’s progress pictures.

Nice progress  ! Watching all the smaller details fill up the negative space is always enjoyable for me. Brings the model from a shell to a complete trailer.

Thanks Jeff and your exactly right and with this one being my first completely design and build trailer it’s been a very fun build so far.

I’ve been tackling the hardest part of this build and it’s the operating bottom gates. I’ve been able too get both gates to open and close at the same time. I still have some clean up to do and I’m going to add the air pneumatic cylinders on both ends for operating the gates. Your comments are always welcome and appreciated.

Thanks Jeff. I should do that so far I’ve just been looking at them as I’m driving by. I did see a Load King trailer just like the one I’ve been working from for reference.

Today I worked on the landing legs and little more work on the fenders also cut out the side boards on top. I’ve painted some cheese cloth to use as removable cover over the load area. I’m thinking I might have a way to make it open and close to. That’s tomorrow’s project lol.

That would take some engineering to make hidden gears to move the gates consistently.

But it looks like you've got it handled anyway.

Thanks Patrick actually there’s no gears needed there’s just a rod that connects them together. The trick is to figure out where to connect the rod to make both half’s to open up the same. Mine are close lol.
