StevenGuthmiller Posted October 13, 2022 Author Posted October 13, 2022 (edited) Final color coat on the body, and the scripts cleaned. ready for clear. Picked up a couple of bottles of MCW enamel to play with for the interior colors from my LHS. Steve Edited October 13, 2022 by StevenGuthmiller 1
Bucky Posted October 13, 2022 Posted October 13, 2022 Looking mighty nice, Steve! What is the name of the color? Mrs. Bucky had a '65 GTO in that same color. I'll need some of this MCW paint when I get ready to do a replica of that one.
Can-Con Posted October 13, 2022 Posted October 13, 2022 Steve, what's the blue on the right in your last pic? Looks very close to the color I want for a certain '68 GTO I've been wanting to build. I think it's "Meridian Turquois" but on the show it's always been referred to as just "blue" and looks different in different light.

A 1964 GM color. Steve

The body color should be pretty close once the clear coats are applied. Steve 1
Kah puts Posted October 14, 2022 Posted October 14, 2022 This is getting exciting like the two minute warning score is tied and your team has the ball, go Steve go.

StevenGuthmiller Posted October 15, 2022 Author Posted October 15, 2022 After a small paint set back, I managed to get at least a few coats of clear on today. I'm thinking that I'll let it dry, and then foil and detail the hood, trunk and front quarter badges before I shoot the last couple of coats. Steve 3
Bucky Posted October 15, 2022 Posted October 15, 2022 The clear is certainly bringing out the color, now. Looking good!
David G. Posted October 16, 2022 Posted October 16, 2022 Gorgeous color! It looks perfect for the era and body style. David G.
StevenGuthmiller Posted October 16, 2022 Author Posted October 16, 2022 Thanks guys! I got the foil on the badges, and did a little paint detailing on them. Now I can commence with the final couple of clear coats, then on to polishing. Steve 1
kelson Posted October 17, 2022 Posted October 17, 2022 Amazing thread so far!,are you using Tamiya panel line accent filler for the black on the emblems or paint?.
StevenGuthmiller Posted October 18, 2022 Author Posted October 18, 2022 9 hours ago, kelson said: Amazing thread so far!,are you using Tamiya panel line accent filler for the black on the emblems or paint?. lacquer paint. I just spray a little Duplicolor lacquer of the desired color into a cup, and then apply it with a brush. The trick is to remove the paint with some thinner from the high spots later, leaving the paint in the recesses. Steve 1
StevenGuthmiller Posted October 22, 2022 Author Posted October 22, 2022 The polishing process has commenced. About half done. Steve 1
TransAmMike Posted October 22, 2022 Posted October 22, 2022 Geez Steven, gthat sure is prrrrrr-ty!! What did you use for the panel lines? A real looker so far?

StevenGuthmiller Posted November 2, 2022 Author Posted November 2, 2022 Thanks guys! I managed to finish up the polishing today, (except for the hood) and I wanted to get the radiator bulkhead area painted right away so that I could begin foiling as soon as possible. These are the kinds of things that I really hate doing after the painting and polishing is finished, but I find it gives me the best results that way. A lot of masking for such a small area, but it turned out good. Steve 2
