DRIPTROIT 71
This is a model of a truck where my dad used to work; “Piedmont Asphalt Paving Company.” This project began with the AMT Ford Snowplow kit. The long hood came from Gary Wallace. The grille and emblems are from Detail Master. Although the Detail Master Mack kit was excellent, this one for the Ford was a bit lacking. The emblems were too large, and there was only one. I went ahead and used them. The 6-71 Detroit is from Jamie at moluminum. The wheels are from an Ertl kit. Thanks to Charles Rowley for the decals!

vincen47
Like I said over in the modeltruckbuilder forum, the hood/cab paint mismatch was a happy accident. Looks great and it’s very realistic with these weathered workhorses. I love the 6-71, nice job on that. Excellent build! leafsprings
You again captured the look of a no-nonsense workhorse that has the power and capacity to do the job right. The L hood and 9000 emblems are very nice upgrades.
Doug 1061
Good looking workhorse. The mismatched hood gives it character.

They are actually 8000 emblems that I painted through the bottom of the 8 to make it a 9.😀 On 9/4/2022 at 2:38 AM, Doug 1061 said: Good looking workhorse. The mismatched hood gives it character. KevinCarroll
All the little things - which in reality are not little at all - really add up, Brian. Too many to mention, but that dinged and dented (how did you do that?) tailgate with chains and the wonderfully weathered wooden sideboards really caught my eye. As others have said, a great replica of a work-a-day truck, but one that is well cared for too. Congrats!
trick my mixer
nice job on the firewall wiring and overall build. looks great.
happy grumpy
Absolute beauty, the weathering is right on and that engine and wiring looks real. I always like these old Fords, I grew up around them. My father was a heavy equipment operator and I when he brought me around often on Saturdays . Great memories. The bed was dented by sheeting it with very thin aluminum and then actually denting it. On 9/6/2022 at 1:25 PM, trick my mixer said: nice job on the firewall wiring and overall build. looks great. I went to work with my dad when he worked at the truck shop. Those are great memories! When he went to work for Papco working on heavy equipment, I was working my own job.
