Thats a nice one I built this one many years ago. Has the 440 6BBL with the pistol grip 4 speed. I hope to upgrade mine by painting the white lettering on the tires, putting on a set of Rallye wheels, and painting over those chrome valve covers.

They just announced it a few months ago, it can take about a year from then until it actually hitting shelves.

Why would it take a year to do a reissue? Or is it a new tooled kit?

Anyone here ever install a 1/24 scale hemi in one of these????....??

They fit nicely. A 1/24 engine is about one scale inch longer if it’s a true 1/24 engine and not one of the Monogram Engines which is’t scale accurate.

That just seems to be about the pace of things now. Evidently somewhere has this for preorder so it must be coming a bit sooner.

I'd like to see a couple of things happen with the 1970 Road Runner (whose origins are the 1970 GTX):

1.) Put its interior in the 1970 Superbird (more common than the luxurious Sport Satellite/GTX interior in the existing -since 1988- version)

2.) Add the intake and carburetors from the 1971 GTX. Vastly superior to the blobs of the old Monogram setup (Super Bee, GTX-come- Road Runner)

3.) Custom wheels & tyres from the 2-in-1 1970 GTX (the moulded in blue release). Those were an absolute treat in the era of ad nauseam Centerlines and Cragar S/STs that the majority of Monogram's kits were flogged with.

I love how the interior was revised to include the bench seat that most Road Runners were fitted with (e.g., standard interior), and the separate door cards are a nice touch. The decal sheet is great, too. That R.T.S. poster alone is awesome!

How come this Roadrunner never comes back as the GTX and the 71 GTX never comes back as the Roadrunner/Satellite it originated from?

As much as I welcome the reissue of the 1970 Road Runner, and as much as I love the 1971 Satellite/ Road Runner 'hybrid', both of them -and their relatives- are long in the tooth. Heck, those kits date to 40 years ago!
All-new kits of the 1970 Road Runner (with interchangeable GTX/Satellite Sebring interior, and separate trim) and 1971 Road Runner (with, again, interchangeable interior, etc.) would be better than trying to revise/modify the ancient tooling cores of these (and the other early 1980's Monogram Muscle Car kits: '70 SS-454 Chevelle, '69 Super Bee, '70 Mustang BOSS 429, '70 Challenger T/A, etc.) kits.

I'm glad to see this kit back, but I DO wish they'd fix the engine compartment.....there's no wiper motor, the radiator overflow tank was still a year or two away, and let's be honest, it's not REALLY a Road Runner without the purple beep beep horn, is it? The last one I built, I fixed all that. It wasn't difficult, but still...........:/
