KWT Posted April 28, 2023 Posted April 28, 2023 Wow.. 30 entries.... this could be a fantastic race. Hope my paint hurries itself here
landman Posted May 1, 2023 Posted May 1, 2023 The V12 won't fit, hovewer the other three will. So let's hash this over. We want power and relative economy so the 427 is out. The C5R looks like a likely candidate. 1

Mattilacken Posted May 2, 2023 Posted May 2, 2023 (edited) So i won’t make the Silverado rest this year either. But I got inspired by an other contender to dig out my third gen Chevelle and try to build it for the CBR! So here goes. It’s a 1975 Pepsi laguna with a ‘80s monogram nascar chassi that need surprisingly little mods to fit, in my world at least. Some sanding and the rear end needs to move if you would build a stock car replica you would probably be fine since the original cars ran a 115” chassi and not a 112” as stock. Not sure what power plant I will be running. LS is to common ? so I might go nascar small block, might have better gas mileage than the big block I intended to run to replicate the period correct engine. We will see.. I am not that found of the over sized monogram engines but they do look mighty! and yes I took black and white pictures since the color combination right now is awful! Blue body and yellow chassi! rear axle compensated for the wheelbase Wheelbase as it intends to build. Edited May 2, 2023 by Mattilacken 4
hvymtl74 Posted May 2, 2023 Posted May 2, 2023 Well i will throw my build in to this race as soon as i find it

landman Posted May 3, 2023 Posted May 3, 2023 I had used the "lowered" setting for the front king pins to get a slight rake in order to achieve a bit of downforce without adding wings and spoilers. Ended up having to open up the front wheel openings. Next is figuring how to terminate the side molding which has been cut. 2

KWT Posted May 14, 2023 Posted May 14, 2023 Well it's not much, but I'm happy to say I finally have this going again.. body smoothed back out and primer down Not let's see if I can get caught up...
Mattilacken Posted May 14, 2023 Posted May 14, 2023 #2 Managed to get the wheelbase locked in and sorted I think. Also started on the front wheels and alignment. I would like to keep it this low but the body style does not favor it. Might need to do some body mods because I really like the wheels to be all out to the edge of the body. Also managed to seat the chassi well I think. Have also started on the cage work. 1
Mattilacken Posted May 15, 2023 Posted May 15, 2023 Had to do something about this total Swedish color combo that i cant stand.. so i shot the chassis in gray late last night 1
landman Posted May 16, 2023 Posted May 16, 2023 Did a bit of carving around the front crossmember to seat the C5R properly. 2

landman Posted May 24, 2023 Posted May 24, 2023 Getting ready for the long haul. It will need a bit of trimming. I am considering opening the trunk lid (a first for me) so that the cell is accessible. Otherwise it will be a racing filler either on the rear quarter or on top of the lig (which might be too conspicuous for a stealth run). 1
Beans Posted May 26, 2023 Posted May 26, 2023 Sooooo close to done....still have some minor touchups and engine detail to do but was too nice a day not to get some pictures. 3
