tim boyd Posted December 11, 2022 Posted December 11, 2022 (edited) This one was completed around 1987 or so when I did a whole series of front and mid engine dragster models. It was based on the MPC Garlits Front Engine Dragster with a Boss 429 engine (probably from the Monogram Vandal/Vambulance kits) and a paint layout devised several colors of 1/1 scale automotive pinstriping tape.... After checking this one out, be sure to take a look at Jerry's Boss 429 FED build also posted in this folder for a really well done take on this build theme....thanks...TIM Edited December 11, 2022 by tim boyd 10
Dragline Posted December 12, 2022 Posted December 12, 2022 Really outstanding Tim. Ive built a couple of Vandal's over the years and Id say that is the motor. The paint scheme is creative to boot. That built up has been around for quite some time.
Speedpro Posted December 12, 2022 Posted December 12, 2022 Nice digger! Really like the paint work on this. Thanks for showing this. Speedpro
jlucky Posted December 13, 2022 Posted December 13, 2022 WOW...I bow to the excellence of your build Tim. Fantastic. Let's line-em up and see who gets to the quarter mile stripe first!
Zippi Posted December 14, 2022 Posted December 14, 2022 That's one kewl looking dragster. The engine detail is really nice.
tim boyd Posted December 28, 2022 Author Posted December 28, 2022 Thanks everyone for you comments and observations....very much appreciated. Best to you all...TIM
R. Thorne Posted December 31, 2022 Posted December 31, 2022 Geez, built 37 years ago, and turns heads today. Outstanding. Trying to get Super Stock racers Ed Terry and Hubert Platt into Top Fuel, huh? Your left slick has a spot on the inside and it looks like the right slick is rubbing the frame lol. So, if you could build this back then, what does your current build look like? Just kidding, of course. Thanks for posting these incredible models and writing awesome books.
