You might have the first of my louvered hoods on a "finished" model to make it to the under glass status. Though I am curious why you had to add length to the hood. I'll have to go back a re-read the build thread. Thanks, Jason. I had to add length to the hood AND the hood sides (not a fault of the hood being short). I think it's just an inevitability of mixing parts from the various Revell '32 series. Frame from the new roadster, body from 3 window kit, original grill shell on new roadster frame. I didn't really spend any time trying to figure out where the discrepancy is, 3 window cowl shorter than the roadster cowl might be it? I still think it's amazing how well mix n match parts do fit together. I will definitely be using more of the hoods I received and I have given one to KK for a planned build of his. -RRR
Koellefornia Kid Posted December 20, 2022 Posted December 20, 2022 You nailed this one! Looks awesome! 1

Making sure I didn't have a problem I needed to fix in my casting. 1

Smitty Posted December 22, 2022 Posted December 22, 2022 What a killer hot rod! Beautifully designed and expertly built. I’m curious about the Minwax clear, -do you experience much in the way of orange peel with it? 1

Very little orange peel, it's supposed to 'self-leveling'. The pix here are one coat, no buffing or polishing. I'm sure if I could be bothered to do some of that, it would be very smooth. -RRR
Speedpro Posted December 23, 2022 Posted December 23, 2022 RRR, You are such a talented builder. And it blows me away how fast you put a pile of parts together. Always looking forward to what you are going to build next. Beautiful job on this one. I think your choice of color really makes the car. And the engine details finish off under the hood nicely. I like this alot! Speedpro 1
Tom Kren Posted December 24, 2022 Posted December 24, 2022 Nice job!!! like the cut out on side pannels 1
speedy5963 Posted December 26, 2022 Posted December 26, 2022 Great looking build, color really looks great with the style of build, wheels and tires! 1
Mr. Metallic Posted January 11, 2023 Posted January 11, 2023 Late to the party, but this is sweeet! Great color, great stance, and excellent wheel/tire choice. But my favorite part is the precision fitment of the hood around the exhaust. A tricky endeavor for sure
Kenmojr Posted February 15, 2023 Posted February 15, 2023 Love these traditional style American hot rods. Looks like it belongs in the pages of "The Rodder's Journal"!!!!! 1

A little lacquer thinner or something, or lay it down right out of the can? It's a really nice finish, I'm impressed! Great build! Love the color, and it sits about perfect I'd say - great stance!
Slotto Posted April 7, 2023 Posted April 7, 2023 Great build Rodney. I use the same clear but I get the spray can. You're totally right when you say tape will pull off the clear. Happened to me with BMF. The finish pulled right off when I readjusted the foil.

Just a few words of warning. Being enamel, you can't put lacquer over the top of it. It will never be as hard as lacquer, it does take about 24 hours to set up. It is a bit yellow, so if you spray it over white, it will have a slight yellow tinge to it. I apply a light coat, wait about 10 minutes and then lay on a slightly heavier coat. As I stated below, I have never tried to polish it, (I'm lazy) and it might not take to a polish as easily as lacquer? Good luck.... -RRR 1

Revell has been very consistent with sizing over each variation of the iconic 1932 Ford (90 years old this year!!!) which allows an limitless variety of parts mixing and matching. Of particular interest in the new roadster are the Limefire style headers. I originally chopped this body when it first came out in the mid 90s. The build hasn't fared so well over the years with a couple of moves and all. I found it in a box recently and was pleasantly surprised how well the chop was done, so I decided to strip the paint and incorporate it into a new build. -Body: Revell 1932 Ford Coupe, chopped -Hood sides are 3-row louvers with the bottom row shaved off and a slot cut for the headers (from several versions of the Revell '32 kits). Louvered hood is a resin item from Jason Lookabill (very cool). I did have to add 0.040" to the length of the hood and sides for a proper fit. -Frame: from the new roadster kit, with kits' 9" rear end, front axle is the I-beam from the Revel Model A series of kits. -Engine: SBC from the new roadster with a 2x3 manifold and Rochester 2C carbs from the Revell Model A series. Spark Arrestor air filters from Replicas and Miniatures of Maryland. -Interior: resin tuck n' roll from Replicas and Miniatures of Maryland. Stock 3W dash. -Tires from Modelhaus, wheels are AMT from the parts box. -Paint is Tamiya TS-60 Pearl Green with MinWax polyurethane clear, black accent color. -A few other odds and ends and bit of pieces added to the mix...... More pix and build-up pix here: https://public.fotki.com/jferren/32-three-window-coupe-/ Thanks for checking it out..... -RRR Ooooo I like that! 1
