I opened this it up yesterday to take a look and decided this would be my next build.  Still early in the game on this one to know exactly what direction I'm going with it but I did do a little mock up.  I was also thinking about a red with a white top or titanium silver with an orange or black top.  I also pulled out a 572 I have to see how it fits.  Let me see your 59 and what you did with it.

I've had this kit in the planning stages ever since I got back in the hobby... 7-8 yrs ago now... I really need to start it...  I love watching these come together, and I'm sure yours will rock.

Will be watching this.  Have one on the shelf but haven’t opened the kit.  Have fun with your build!

I built mine as a tow vehiclle.to go along with go along with the original Sting Ray.

That's a pretty sharp looking 59.

Look forward to your build. The body chrome trim is a little vague probably due to the age of the tooling. The front suspension has three settings and the lowest one doesn't leave a lot of oil pan clearance if you're trying to lower it. I enjoyed my build and look forward to another sometime soon. As requested, a couple of pictures of the last '59 El Camino.

Stack injected big block with a straight axle front end. That would make a mean looking gasser! ?

Oh man don't you know it.  I'm trying to keep this one more of a cruiser.

Had this kit in my hands a few times and put it back. This may change my mind!

The silver and orange scheme could be cool! Roof colour could be extended to the fins and between the chrome.

I think the one thing keeping me from taking a serious look at actually building this kit is coming up with a nice color combination for the design. A color either works or doesn't work for me immediately when viewing the '59 El Camino, be it a 1:1 or a model. ?

I hear ya Joe.  I always struggle with color choices.

I am either doing a very specific car/truck and attempt to match the colour exactly (sometimes from a 40 year or more memory)

Or...

Use whatever I happen to have laying around that isn't a flat military colour.

Makes deciding really easy.

I worked on the 59 this morning and got the bed glued into the body, hood fitting good, and the bed cover fitting even though it may not be used.  I also worked on the tailgate for some time but unforgivably I don't see it being operational.  I can get it looking pretty good if I glue in shut but if I try and leave it operational it won't line up right as far as the taillights and I want that to look nice.
