Dang, that's cool. I like the opened roof! The flowing C pillars look really good with that treatment.

Hi Chris!

Thanks for the comments. That junction of the c-pillar and the upper quarter on the 66 Riviera is one of the best GM design detail  ever IMHO. My opened roof makes it appear even "slimmer", which is a good thing, I guess...

What a fascinating creation Claude! This beautifully concept model cause the following thoughts for me: 1) if Bill Mitchell had commissioned his design crew to build him a lead sled to cruise the Dairy Queen’s of suburban Detroit in the evenings when he wasn’t out street racing his Mako Shark, this would be the car, 2) I love the open roof but my mind kept filling it in with a smoked glass roof - did you happen to consider this option when you were building this Riviera ? 3) This model made me flashback on a distant childhood memory, the “Fisher Body Craftsman Guild” car styling competitions when school age kids (mostly boys if I recall) were encouraged to submit a 1/12 scale clay model of a futuristic design for a crack at a GM scholarship to become an auto stylist. Anyone else remember those presentations at high school assemblies????

Another fantastic model Claude! You are one of the most artistic creative model builders posting on this forum. Bravo!

Hi John!

Thank you for the compliments. I like to think that Mr. Mitchell would have noticed it.

To your questions: no, I did not planned to put a clear top on it, but it would be feasible. If I was to start over gain, I would add a thin chrome molding at the edge of the opened roof, all the way back to the rear pointy tip of the rear "opening". And I would get the seat backs lower. Next time maybe?

And yes, I remember that competition. Many surprising designs came out of it.

Thats real nice. Love all of it. I hope he only has to go straight.

Hi Samuel!

Thank you. Well, as a show car, it will mostly go straight from the trailer to the show stand. Should be OK, LOL,

Long, lean, & mean is what I'm seeing in this fine looking Buick.  Killer looking custom and that Tamya Champagne Gold looks nice.  Nice touch with the seat supports.

Thank you Bob!

Holy Cow, that's wild!

A tremendous amount of work, all of it exceedingly well done!

It makes me think of a vehicle built for a science fiction movie sometime in the Seventies.

Hi David!

Thank you for the comments. Maybe the Jetsons would have been in the market for such a Riviera? LOL.

As others have said, that is a work of art! I can’t imagine the hours that went into creating it. Well done Claude!?

Hi Greg. Thanks for the comments!

What a beautiful concept and execution!  I see it on the salt flats having fun at top speeds.

Thanks,
Ismael

Hi Ismael! Thank you. But I would cringe to roll it on the salt lake: rust never sleeps... LOL

Took me a minute to get past the no wheel opening look, but this is a seriously stylish build. Looks it could have come out the GM styling center.

Hi Dave! Thank you, it's quite a compliment!

Spacely Sprockets' George Jetson's futuristic glance at what most others can only imagine... kustom kars often kross the line between one step beyond and the twilight zone without sensing the difference found in-between them.  What you have kreated is a klingon kollision of two separate automobile landships while keeping all four wheels on the ground!  Outstanding kustom koupe, Claude!! -KK

HI KK!

Thank you for the comments. It struck me that the "blade design" could be taken to another level, albeit at the cost of short turning radius... LOL. But, as the saying goes, this thing would be mostly seen in car show halls, so...

Great custom Claude. It would not have looked out of place on a turntable at a mid 60s motor show as a factory concept car.

Cheers, David. ??

Thank you! It's flattering to entertain that fantasy...
