Zed Posted February 13, 2009 Posted February 13, 2009 da liner is done ! I've tried to give her the look of a late 50's kustom, as if she was customized as new . Focus is not on the body mods, but on the paint ! Just a little shave and a panel job inspired by the work of the king Larry Watson I had a lot of fun, trying to duplicate some of the trend of that area like chrome tape on the top, scalloped dummys, and plexi tailites with bullets Moderate lowering, handmade lake pipes and 59 Lancers hubcaps complete the look... interior is very white roll and pleats ... Dr. Cranky Posted February 13, 2009 Posted February 13, 2009 FREAKING GORGEOUS!!! What a paintjob! Wow!!! Spectacular, buddy. Congrats.
Peter Lombardo Posted February 13, 2009 Posted February 13, 2009 You nailed it! I think Watson would have been proud to put his name on this paint job, in fact I think it is more tasteful then many of the Watson paint job I have seen. Very well done on a kit that is very difficult to build as stock, let alone customize. Beautiful work. I am really impressed.
Smart-Resins Posted February 13, 2009 Posted February 13, 2009 I have passed this thread by before as they really are not my style of car, the skylines. But decided to ponder it this morning. I must say, one of the better looking models I have sean on here! You have donea beautiful and over the top build here. You really have done the car justice! Thanks. Jody
Guest Gramps-xrds Posted February 13, 2009 Posted February 13, 2009 I have to agree w/ Peter on this one. You've taken what, in my opinion is a poor model and made something beautiful out of it. I've had on in the box for yrs and wasn't impressed w/ it. Again a GREAT job
58 Impala Posted February 13, 2009 Posted February 13, 2009 Beautiful panel paint job, the chrome foil stripes on the roof is a nice period touch.
Guest Davkin Posted February 13, 2009 Posted February 13, 2009 Wow! We need a how-to on how you did that paint job! David
Guest Davkin Posted February 13, 2009 Posted February 13, 2009 Nevermind, I looked up your Fotki album. Those pics are work ten thousand words. However you don't mention how you did the chrome tape, was that just strips of BMF? You have the patience of Job! David

Helipilot16 Posted February 15, 2009 Posted February 15, 2009 (edited) I attended many indoor car shows in the 50s and 60s. This beauty would have been a great sweepstakes contender. You've captured the look perfectly. Edited February 15, 2009 by Helipilot16
