landman Posted April 6, 2023 Author Posted April 6, 2023 I don't know whether tis is funny or embarassing but here goes. I thought the fender insert fit was kind of weird. I had inverted them front to rear. Sheesh. 1
Modelbuilder Mark Posted April 7, 2023 Posted April 7, 2023 Have one of these in the stash, looking forward to seeing yours come together.
Anglia105E Posted April 7, 2023 Posted April 7, 2023 Your idea for the fenders was so good Pat, using the spoon , , , and then a slight miscalculation on your part. No need to feel embarrassed, if you can see the funny side of the error ! David 1

LDO Posted April 8, 2023 Posted April 8, 2023 Heller missed the peak on the top of the front fenders (unless there is another 1/1 with rounded fenders). I put a thin brass wire on them with a tiny bit of super glue, then added a bit of putty to blend them in. 2
landman Posted April 20, 2023 Author Posted April 20, 2023 Puttied up the fenders and rprimed. Will likely need another skim. And I won't bother with the peak as Lee suggests above. 1
Anglia105E Posted April 20, 2023 Posted April 20, 2023 I can see there's a lot of work gone into those fenders Pat . . . Once you get the final coats of body colour on, they will look fine. David 1

jaftygas Posted April 25, 2023 Posted April 25, 2023 I think the fenders look great that way! Very creative, it’s what this hobby is supposed to be. You probably wouldn’t want to attempt this on a 1/1 car, for obvious reasons. However, it a model! Take it away bro. 1
landman Posted April 30, 2023 Author Posted April 30, 2023 A teaser. It will sort of look like this. 2
landman Posted May 16, 2023 Author Posted May 16, 2023 Having a fight getting the interior into the body. I hope to win eventually. 2

Anglia105E Posted May 16, 2023 Posted May 16, 2023 Looking at this Delahaye 135 build of yours Pat, it brings it all back how some aspects of the build are problematic. You are doing an excellent job, and I am sure the model will turn out nicely. David
atomicholiday Posted May 16, 2023 Posted May 16, 2023 Looks really good. That engine especially looks great.
landman Posted May 17, 2023 Author Posted May 17, 2023 Got it. Along with several smudges. Now hopefully it will fit on the chassis without the need for some serious clampu8ng.
landman Posted June 3, 2023 Author Posted June 3, 2023 Assembly continues. At times there were serious thoughts about turning it into a barn find. 1
Kit Karson Posted June 6, 2023 Posted June 6, 2023 Pat, totally rethinking taking on the notorious task this coupe appears to offer up. Picking up on the additional touches of detail are greatly appreciated. Dare I say a hopped-up version might be hidden under that classic design skin. I picked this kit up at our local IPMS show and swap meet a couple months ago. -KK
jaftygas Posted June 6, 2023 Posted June 6, 2023 Sweet! Starting to look pretty good! Finish this thing.
landman Posted June 28, 2023 Author Posted June 28, 2023 I got as far as this and when I put it together nothing lined up so I threw it in the round file. Later, I "salvaged" it. we'll see.
Anglia105E Posted June 28, 2023 Posted June 28, 2023 This Heller Delahaye 135 is certainly fighting back and giving you a hard time Pat . . . I seem to remember the build of this model proving to be problematic on a daily basis, and I was relieved to get it finished at the time. The whole kit feels alarmingly fragile, so not one you would handle much after completing. I do hope it doesn't give you too much grief, now that you have reached this advanced stage ! David
landman Posted January 22, 2024 Author Posted January 22, 2024 I decided to give it a second chance. Since I have to glue everything together to get it straight , I removed the engine and put it in the engine case. It goes together only with much persuasion so it'll be a "barn find" at best. Also I seem to have loist the grille, so I'll have to improvise.
Big John Posted January 23, 2024 Posted January 23, 2024 Well the Bonnet ought not blow off at speed with that nifty holdfast! 1
