Dragonhawk1066 Posted May 19, 2023 Posted May 19, 2023 I assembled and painted a couple of Master Box figures to add to my Fujimi Mechanics set for a future "speed shop" diorama. I used all craft paints, except for Jackie's dress which is Testors acrylic Teal. These were pretty fun to assemble and paint, although I do admit I have a long ways to go with shading, shadowing, and highlighting to rival most of the figures I see. I am pretty happy with how these turned out and they should look pretty good in my diorama. Thanks for looking!!
TonyK Posted May 20, 2023 Posted May 20, 2023 I've built some Masterbox figures myself. They have a nice selection. You did real good and yes, the shading and highlighting is something I'll never do well but I agree that your figures will look good in a diorama. 1
peteski Posted May 22, 2023 Posted May 22, 2023 Good job on the detail painting, but to me the finish looks too glossy. IMO, clothing and skin will look much more realistic when the finish is flat. Maybe spray with Dullcote, or some other water-based acrylic clear flat. Leather would look realistic in satin finish.

Yeah, I do agree they're too glossy. I did spray them with a matte varnish, it's just not good enough of a matte look. When I get a different brand of matte, I'll probably re-visit these and give them another coat. 1

I know my figures often look glossy in pictures even though they are almost perfectly flat in real life. Somehow the curves seem to make them look shiny.
spencer1984 Posted May 25, 2023 Posted May 25, 2023 Nicely done! I'm still working on how to paint figures, and the Master Box kits are a good combination of quality and price. 1
