ColonelKrypton Posted June 6, 2023 Posted June 6, 2023 Can anyone tell me what kit or kits have 1/25 scale 10" 1960's style slicks? I have found bigger and much smaller but those elusive 10" one seem to be slipping me by. cheers, Graham
Rattlecan Dan Posted June 6, 2023 Posted June 6, 2023 Saw some 10.5 x 15" Goodyear slicks at Modelhaustires.com. If that helps. 1
ColonelKrypton Posted June 6, 2023 Author Posted June 6, 2023 Close. It is an option, I will book mark and keep it in mind. cheers, Graham
Fat Brian Posted June 6, 2023 Posted June 6, 2023 There's a small set in the last two issues of the AMT 49 Ford but they're white walls and cheater slicks.
NOBLNG Posted June 6, 2023 Posted June 6, 2023 (edited) I not sure what kit these belong to, but here’s the measurements. Possibly the Revell ‘68 Firebird 400? You might find a set here:https://www.modelroundup.com/product-p/mtset-0006.htm Edited June 6, 2023 by NOBLNG 1
Straightliner59 Posted June 7, 2023 Posted June 7, 2023 I thought AMT had done a couple in their parts packs, but the Goodyears are 9" and the M&Hs are 10.5. 1

You might find a set here:https://www.modelroundup.com/product-p/mtset-0006.htm This is the Revell slick from the old Mickey Thompson Attempt 1 kit. If I remember correctly, it was made in two widths. One width for the Attempt 1, and a slightly narrower version for the Sox & Martin '67 GTX, Drag-On-Lady '67 Coronet, and possibly a few other kits. 1
ColonelKrypton Posted June 7, 2023 Author Posted June 7, 2023 Thank you everyone for your replies. After measuring up a number of different brands of 1/25 tires I have found that even if marked as say an 8.5-15 that the model tire dimensions scaled up to full size are not always correct; sometimes noticeably so. Lots of possibilities but it seems the elusive 10" slicks are still out there waiting to be uncovered. Perhaps I will have to kitbash some tires to get something that I want. cheers, Graham
R. Thorne Posted June 7, 2023 Posted June 7, 2023 Keep in mind that the marking on the tire sidewall on older tires does not necessarily mean the width of the tread (e.g. 6.70, 7.10, 7.60 are not tread widths). Also, “pie crust” or regular side walls were available in the 60’s in a 10 inch size. You might consider making a 10” out of a 9” tire by chucking it in a drill and sanding it out to .400” wide. You might be able to do this on some tires. I believe my 37 Chevy gasser came with 10” tires, but can’t be positive. The Stone, Woods, & Cook gasser definitely came with 10” tires as the photo shows. Your best bet in a kit would be gasser kits, although some would have wider tires. My photos should load shortly. 1
