Sidney Schwartz Posted June 11, 2023 Posted June 11, 2023 This kit has some issues, but I'm happy with what I was able to do. Good stuff: * Pretty good detail. * Mostly good parts fit. * Parts mostly free from flash & defects. * LOTS of decals, including door & trunk locks. Very nice! Not So Good stuff: * The main problem is the engine sitting too high and preventing the hood from being even close to sitting flush. The last pic shows the part I modified to fix this. * Wheel well trim is not molded very well. * Installation of tail light lens housing doesn't make sense, at least to me. I ended up not using it. * Rear axle sits crooked. Not sure if these was a defect or some mistake that I made. I was able to fix it. Body color is DecoArt craft paint Bright Yellow. This is the nicest yellow I've tried so far. Enjoy and thanks for looking and commenting. ? This is the chassis cross piece that includes the engine mounts. I shaved the undersides of the indicated areas where it attaches to the rest of the chassis. This lets the engine sit lower in the engine bay. I also had to shave down the carburetor under the air cleaner. 8
cifenet Posted June 11, 2023 Posted June 11, 2023 Awesome build! Really nice job on this! Interesting to know that the car has an engine fitting issue, but glad to hear you corrected it. And I agree, the yellow is gorgeous!
atomicholiday Posted June 11, 2023 Posted June 11, 2023 You definitely overcame the obstacles. This is one gorgeous Camaro build. Great work.?
Zippi Posted June 11, 2023 Posted June 11, 2023 Nice build on this 69 Camaro. That yellow craft paint looks pretty kewl.
Hard_2_Handle_454 Posted June 11, 2023 Posted June 11, 2023 Looks great in yellow. Nice job. Only problem I had with my build, like you said, was the engine height effecting the hood. Everything else went together fine.

I don't get how something like this slips through the cracks.
Rattlecan Dan Posted June 11, 2023 Posted June 11, 2023 You did a beautiful job with it! That yellow paint job is really sharp. Great work.
karbuildr Posted June 11, 2023 Posted June 11, 2023 Wow, what a great color, really pops. Great job on the decals too. Excellent build, very nice details.
BeakDoc Posted June 12, 2023 Posted June 12, 2023 Skillfully done! Fantastic paint and finish. I really dig the paint-matched steelies.

That kit was built for a different engine. So it would make sense the fit would be off. I know I run into the same problem with any Revell kit that has a shaker hood. They never fit right. I end up having to glue the hood shut. It does seem like they would test fit the kits though. It could be like the Supernatural Impala and have a note in the instructions to file down the hood latch for hood fit. Sure the engine bay will look weird, but the hood will fit. Seems like a lot of companies don't think the kits all the way through. Be it flaws in the molding, missing parts, or weird decals. 1
ncbuckeye67 Posted June 12, 2023 Posted June 12, 2023 Beautiful build ! The 69 will always be the best body style of Camaro, in my opinion. I have several kits, but the only one on my shelf is the "Skips Fiesta" Baldwin-Motion , that I'm not really happy with.
David G. Posted June 12, 2023 Posted June 12, 2023 Nicely done! I like the interior detail and the washes you did on the hood-mounted air intakes. And you're right, that is a great looking yellow. David G.
Pierre_tec Posted June 12, 2023 Posted June 12, 2023 Nice job on that one! Every time I see such a clean job with craft paint, makes me jump on that trend, but the dilution always makes my regret my decision. pretty sure they just ad parts to old molds and done. I did mine in Rally green, and bought many, just for love of dog dishes
Rbray47 Posted June 12, 2023 Posted June 12, 2023 Nice looking build. It's been a while since I built mine (Z28 small block) but my hood didn't shut right either. I shaved down the hood "hinges" because I think they were hitting against the firewall. I haven't heard of this issue before so I probably didn't install the firewall correctly.
