TarheelRick Posted July 13, 2023 Posted July 13, 2023 A little trick I use when I am using my razor saw is to drag both sides of the blade across a candle. The wax in the saw teeth seem to allow the blade to cut smoother. Any candle will work, I keep this one close to my work bench; also comes in handy for bending styrene rods. 1
Ace-Garageguy Posted July 13, 2023 Posted July 13, 2023 A bar of ivory soap works well as a cutting lubricant too, and as it's water soluble, it washes right off with no wax contamination of the cut...which believe it on not, can cause adhesion problems later on. 4
Rattlecan Dan Posted July 13, 2023 Posted July 13, 2023 You folks are so informative and helpful with these little tips and tricks. I never would have thought of those myself. Thank You.

gary jackson Posted July 14, 2023 Posted July 14, 2023 i figured i needed some kind of lubicant but i was worried about contamination ill try the soap thanks guys
Ace-Garageguy Posted July 14, 2023 Posted July 14, 2023 (edited) A little bar soap is good for keeping all kinds of cutting tools from loading up when working with soft aluminum too. I keep a bar in the drawer with the tungsten-carbide bits for my die-grinders. Edited July 14, 2023 by Ace-Garageguy CLARITY 1
