GLMFAA1 Posted August 31, 2023 Posted August 31, 2023 I got a prepaid Master Card in the mail today as a settlement payment to user of electricity that were in the settlement from the companies for bribing the Ohio legislation. A whopping $7.84 was what the card is worth. That's about what a kilowatt of electricity cost. The processing and cost of creating the card is probably more that the card is worth. Now we get both ways: coal plants closing, higher rates, and wasted money. Anybody got an idea what I could by in the hobby for $7.84? greg
Engine 51 Posted September 1, 2023 Posted September 1, 2023 My uncle received one of those cards, his was worth $1.70. Woo Hoo.
MeatMan Posted September 1, 2023 Posted September 1, 2023 Well we did get an apology, which is worth even less! ?
iamsuperdan Posted September 1, 2023 Posted September 1, 2023 I love these things. A few months ago I received a cheque for an "Optical Drive" class action suit. I got $20 because I bought a computer with a DVD burner in the early 2000s. I don't even understand it, but they sent a cheque, so its all good. I think I bought lunch with it.
bobthehobbyguy Posted September 1, 2023 Posted September 1, 2023 Always sounds like you're going to get something substantial however all you get are insulting pittance. The only one that make any money are the lawyers. 2
Little Timmy Posted September 1, 2023 Posted September 1, 2023 Several years ago, my cat was poisoned by tainted food. I took him to the vet and tried to save him. After 3 vet visits, the vet said I could do the treatments from home. About a month went by and I could tell he wasn't getting better, and he didn't want to do the treatments anymore. So I put him down. Total for vet visits $1700 Total for medications and home treatment $800 Class action lawsuit settlement $26 I can't say how I feel about it here... Awful lot of f's involved.

The only one that make any money are the lawyers. My attorney is a real pitbull who won a multi-million $$ class-action against a utility company. I think all the plaintiffs got somewhere around 10 or 20 bucks each. He pocketed about $2 mil. 1
OldTrucker Posted September 2, 2023 Posted September 2, 2023 Reminds me of the scene from The Jerk where he is writing out all the checks for 1.09! 1
