ybsluos Posted October 9, 2023 Posted October 9, 2023 Eric….very wonderful build of one of my all time favorite kits. I tried to build it when I was 18 and I sprayed it Candy Transparent Red but…….I painted the flip front separately from the body. No problem until you consider that I paid no attention to counting coats or moving the pieces close together to check progress. Just painted merrily away through the afternoon only to discover I put way more coats on one piece than the other so when I mocked it up the next day it looked like it was shot with 2 different types of red!! What a dummy I was. So, knowing nothing about stripping paint and starting again I just turned the kit into a parts donor for other projects. At least I got to utilize most of the parts but the body got furecrackered! Anyhow your build took me down a funny memory lane and I thought you and our friends on this site might get a laugh. Again Eric yours is a super build-Mark 1

Slotto Posted October 9, 2023 Posted October 9, 2023 I had the black kit when I was a kid. This red one is beautiful! Did you use decals for the front emblems? 1

Nacho Z Posted October 9, 2023 Posted October 9, 2023 Such a cool model and, in my mind, it has a bit of nostalgic importance . I consider this kit and the ‘55 Chevy Street Machine to be iconic, again, to me. It is great to see it built up. You did a very nice job with it. Thanks for sharing! 1
espo Posted October 9, 2023 Posted October 9, 2023 Great looking paint color and finish. Clean looking engine details. 1

FLHCAHZ Posted October 11, 2023 Posted October 11, 2023 Cool! I have one on the shelf. I hope it turns out this nice 1
mustang1989 Posted October 13, 2023 Posted October 13, 2023 At the risk of dating myself, I too had this kit as a kid and attempted to build it but it didn't turn out very well. This one turned out pretty darn good here as the paint work and detailing are pulled off very well. I've never heard of the MJM pre-wired distributors but will check into them. You sure put some good work into this car Eric. 1
