XYHARRY Posted October 22, 2023 Posted October 22, 2023 G'day folks, here I have my AMT 40 Willys coupe/gasser which I have converted to a street rod. She has independent front suspension and a triangulated four link rear end. Paint is Tamiya ts7 racing white with ts12 orange for the flames. The flames were done using a mask from www.lazymodeller.com, which I had some trouble with when I was removing it due to spraying the paint on too thick. Interior is semi gloss black with red piping and black flocking for the carpet. I also added a resin B&M auto shifter. Rear tyres and tail lights are from the parts box. All feedback is welcome and appreciated. Thanks for looking. Cheers, David. ?? 4
Chuckyg1 Posted October 22, 2023 Posted October 22, 2023 Nicely done David. It looks good in white. The engine is awesome. 1
Yeah Nah Posted October 22, 2023 Posted October 22, 2023 Cool looking Willys David. The sort of fiddly masking required for a project like this is always fraught with potential problems but overall it looks great mate. Excellent job on the interior, engine and suspension mods too.

Thanks Garry, the mask instructions recommend using an airbrush and I can see why.??

Beautiful work on that Willys street rod David. you got that front clip lining up really well, which is difficult on the AMT kit.

Thanks Lou, it wasn't easy. I used styrene sheet glued to the inside of the lower fender to get it to tuck inside the main body and built up the kit hinges.
Zippi Posted October 22, 2023 Posted October 22, 2023 Nice convertion to a Street Rod. I'm liking the colors. The ole 41 Willy's looks good no matter what you throw at it. 1
