Nosferatu
I was looking thru all my old model parts and saw that this VW bug had the same roof curve as the 1940 Ford delivery, so I decided to see what I could do with them. I cut the rear off the bug and the rear off the Ford. The Ford back was a bit wider than the VW, so I cut a vee in the van roof and added bracing to fit the bug. They fit now with some body work. I'm not sure about the shot with those fenders. I will have to comb thru all my fenders and see if something fits better. The Ford fenders were too long and looked out of proportion. Probably a set of Cragars will look good. Haven't thought about power train and color yet. More to come! Thanks for looking and I hope you like it. T-Ray
Your project looks cool. These 1:1 Beetle Vans look to use cut up Beetle Fenders, I think anyways. The only suggestion I can think of is maybe cutting a section out of the Ford body so that the roof can lay flat and line up better with the Volkswagen roof. Bugatti Fan
Interesting project. A great conversion taking place here. Real VW Beetle Vans must be as rare as hens teeth. I think a company named C1 Models over here in the UK does a VW Beetle Van resin transkit. Without checking, as far as I can remember it might be more custom than based on an original though. Nosferatu
I used T-Rays suggestion on using VW rear fenders. After a bit of carving and shortening the rear of the fenders I glued them on and added a bit of putty along with puttying the other parts of the body. I also sanded off the ridge along the VW doors. Nosferatu
I did a bit more work on this. Smoothed out the body (it likely will need more body work). I used stained and sealed coffee stirrers for the floor. I'm also working on rear door hinges. Looking to paint it a metallic black, but I have to make sure the body work can support black. Being that the vehicle is powered by a V8 and the bug doesn't have a front grill, I had to make one. I think it looks pretty good. I also added tires and Cragar wheels. Thanks for looking. Nosferatu
I got a bit further on this. One more priming and I think it’s good for finish. I also got the hinges on the rear door. Dave
