niteowl7710 Posted March 10 Posted March 10 Decalcas has already announced several decal sheets for a rally version...that is the one that's very close to stock - not the Gr. B T16 monster. I wonder if that's going to wind up in some sorta - make it yourself - type deal or if Heller plans a Rally edition and the Spanish have blown their cover.
Matt Bacon Posted March 10 Posted March 10 Excellent… @The Creative Explorer was there any sign what “2 in 1” means? Is it just the RHD and LHD options? best, M.

Tamiya's is also the Group B T16 version and not the Gr. A "factory" class Rally car which the new decal sheets are for...they're also labeled as being for the new Heller kit.

dbostream Posted March 11 Posted March 11 The two areas behind the rear windows that should be black and have the size of the engine and GTI written out are there no decals for that? The black can be painted by hand but the letters will be impossible. That is the only question mark for me regarding this kit but I will buy a couple either way.
Matt Bacon Posted March 11 Posted March 11 I can’t see any sign of any decals at all in that build up. When I see early builds of test shot kits in model magazines they very often say “Because this is a test shot I had to source decals from the spares box” or some such, so I think they are among the last things to be produced. I would certainly expect those badges to be decals… and some gauges for the dash! best, M. 2

Like Matt mentions test shots do not have decals available for them. Decals traditionally aren't sent to print until 30-60 days before the kit is going to be sent to full production 2 1
64Comet404 Posted March 12 Posted March 12 I want one. I also want the Tamiya 205 rally kit I could never justify buying as a teenager, but now I can afford to be a completist!
Junkman Posted March 12 Posted March 12 (edited) For the ones wanting a Group B rally version, Heller themselves make it since the 1980s. Whether it's any good I know not. Edited March 12 by Junkman

I had this kit and passed it on - very simplified, lacking detail in every aspect and very crude, very toylike - just look at the box picture: it says "41 pieces". That says all about it (similar to the 905 prototype).

Whether it's any good I know not. I actually bought this kit last week, being aware that it was simplified. It is a tad better than a curbside, and can be used as a base for a little scratchbuilding and detailing. However, the packaging is a real nightmare; the trees are stacked with only a single layer of like silk paper or tracing paper between them; you know the stuff you find in gift bags or in a shoebox. No sealed plastic bags, And even if my box was in perfect shape, the car's roof was crushed in and a bit side-shifted. I have other Heller kits, and none were damaged, but the other ones don't even have paper in the box; just platic trees thrown loosely in the box. Very deceiving, but I keep coming back because they have hard to find subject matter! Edited March 13 by OldSkool81 typo
Junkman Posted March 14 Posted March 14 You should return it and have it exchanged for an undamaged one. After all, you paid for a flawless example.
